Selenia Anastasi and Federica Formato are presenting a CADS study of an Italian Incel forum. Interesting to see how Southern Italy, particularly, is discursively constructed with clear gendered patterns. Also very great to know a bit about the manosphere in Italy. #CADS2026

E. Dimitris Kitis is presenting to introduce an interesting concept of “psychoscapes” for analysing urban spaces. Also showing that cognitive linguistic critical discourse studies and CADS are combined to reveal how Hillbrow and Sandton are differently constructed in news. #CADS2026

Phoenix Lam kicks off the panel of Discourse and “Place”. An interesting study explores how Hong Kong’s place brand image is constructed in online travel forums through collocational, colligational, semantic preference, and semantics prosody analysis. #CADS2026

Erin Turneer is presenting the study analysing parliamentary speeches of French-speaking Belgium and France to explore how “sociopolitical keywords” (e.g. “fascism” and “responsibility”) are used for argumentative purposes and have influence on persuasion and discursive depoliticisation. #CADS2026
