This place is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here. Nothing valued is here. What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.

Ulysses has a few tough chapters but overall it's not that hard. Finnegan's Wake is, though, so it seems they've been conflated over the years by pop culture. The first pic is Finnegan's Wake. The second, Ulysses. You might not enjoy Ulysses, that's fine, but it's not hard to follow.

And so it all ended. Artha kama dharma moksa. Ask Kavya for the kay. And so everybody heard their plaint and all listened to their plause. The letter! The litter! And the soother the bitther! Of eyebrow pencilled, by lipstipple penned. Borrowing a word and begging the question and stealing tinder and slipping like...

Finnegan's WakeThe carriage heeled over and back, their four trunks swaying. --Corny might have given us a more commodious yoke, Mr Power said. --He might, Mr. Dedalus said, if he hadn't that squint troubling him. Do you follow me? He closed his left eye. Martin Cunningham began to brush away crustcrumbs from under his thigh. --What is this, he said, in the name of God? Crumbs?

The images are heartbreaking, there is a state of emergency, and a boil water advisory for areas around me. I'm planning to donate all proceeds from my book sales for the month of July to the Red Cross to help in its efforts.

Watching 30 Rock for the first time in many years. It's weird that The Girly Show had exactly 1 Girl and only 2-3 actors with a huge writer's room. Also boy later seasons Flanderized the heck out of almost everyone huh? Pete's still just a fairly normal guy.

By far the funniest moment in Homer’s Odyssey is when Circe says, “Shall we have sex?” and Odysseus says, “You just turned all my men into pigs. You have the GALL to think I would sleep with you? Of course I will. Absolutely. But don’t do any weird spells”

photograph of the relevant passage in Fitzgerald's translation of the Odyssey ("I make no bed of love with you upon it. Or swear me first a great oath, if I do, you'll work no more enchantment to my harm.")

Problem with Marvel Studios is they're tied to a specific franchise and can not pivot. "low-budget original horror is doing well let's make one of those. The role of familial trauma will be played by, oh, let's say Rogue."

The Trojan Horse isn't mentioned in The Iliad and only briefly in The Odyssey, but it has a very large section in The Aeneid, (which is about the Trojans fleeing to settle what would eventually become Rome) where Virgil keeps insisting the Trojans weren't owned by it, they weren't.

WALKING INTO THE THEATER WITH MY TROJAN HORSE POPCORN HOLDER: Haha, fuck yeah, a cool horse! WALKING OUT OF THE THEATER WITH MY TROJAN HORSE POPCORN HOLDER: I must keep this horse as a memento mori about my own civilization's failure
