I don't actually see any evidence of this? As far as I can tell most academics response to the Wilson piece (those who have seen it at all) was "huh, fair enough - I liked the film tho". I'm guessing this isn't registering because low key calm responses aren't flashy or memorable.

I fundamentally do not know how to square the politics whereby Democrats will essentially have to tell the American people that because they (the voters) made an extremely stupid decision, they need to lower their expectations substantially for the foreseeable future, but here we are.

Social media thrives on BIG energy. - energy > + energy. If I post something that has me PO'ed I get scores of interactions. If I post a fun book thread I get single digits. IRL if someone was constantly in your face with BIG energy you'd avoid them like the plague. It's exhausting.

I believe Stancil (who I have no beef with) can be explained in evolutionary terms. Social media promotes argument - we agree that’s just an inherent feature of it. So it’s natural social media would produce a person who argues with anyone over anything at any time for any reason. Pure argument.

I had to code and pronounce a time of death on a respiratory therapist colleague. There's a memorial plaque for her outside the emergency department to this day. I wrote and re-wrote my will. I will never forgive these ghouls trying to rewrite history and deny our experience.

I agree completely. If we had the draft there's zero chance we're in Afghanistan for 20 years, imo. I think we should have mandatory 3yrs of public service (e.g., EMS, road crew,.forestry, peace corps, military) in exchange for fair wages, paid trade/college degree. Learn trade & be in community.

I've always been against fetishizing veterans over public service writ large, but this is such a broad, ignorant statement. Nearly 16M vets, millions of combat vets but sure they're why Trumpism happened vs 94% of the population turning a blind eye to the forever wars bc they didn't have to care..
