Hey Vinay Prasad, science belongs to everyone. You’ve bemoaned how the FDA and CDC were not transparent for years, yet here you are intentionally refusing to share evidence. This data does not belong to you. It belongs to the American people. Release it.

Imagine you are in a post-apocalyptic world with zombies. There is a spray you can use to ward off zombies. It works well, but is short-acting. Someone made a new spray that is more long-acting. You want to test it out to see the difference.

Oh how I love this city, this country and this team. Thank you, Blue Jays, for not only giving us the season of a lifetime but also for bringing us all together. Proud to be Canadian and proud to be a Blue Jays fan.

Did we….. just have a GRAND SLAM in our first World Series in 32 YEARS by a World Series debut batter and then chase that with another two-run home run???!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Let’s go, BLUE JAYS!!

The good, the bad and the ugly on the current measles situation in Canada. Measles outbreak in Ontario finally declared over. New cases are slowing down in all provinces, with only a handful of new cases in Alberta and BC in the last month.

MEASLES OUTBREAK IN ONTARIO FINALLY DECLARED OVER
The last reported measles case in Ontario had rash onset on August 21, 2025. A measles outbreak is declared over when at least 46 days have passed since the rash onset of the last case, accounting for the 7-21 day incubation period, delays in reporting, and potential for undiagnosed cases. This was met on October 6, 2025.
However, given Canada has had over 5000 cases of measles in 2025, it means we will likely lose our measles elimination status. Canada achieved measles elimination in 1998.

SCIENCE

It’s getting increasingly harder to convince anti-vaxxers bc it is no longer about science & evidence. It is about identify & belonging. It’s not just accepting a vaccine, it’s about leaving behind their sense of self & community. It’s about security. This is why throwing data will never work.

Don’t get sucked into the whataboutism. There doesn’t need to be competition between public health advances - each are important & critical in making people live long + healthy lives. Anyone in public health will tell you this. Alas, the folks doing damage only know how to rage bait for self-gain.

TWO THINGS CAN BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME
Sanitation and other
hygiene-related advances in public health like sewage control, waste water
filtration and treatment did absolutely significantly increase life expectancy.
But so did vaccines.
A recent study estimated that vaccines have saved 154 million lives globally since 1974, equivalent to a rate of six lives every minute.

SCIENCE

I am half way through reading @joho.bsky.social ‘s new book and it should be included as historical evidence in national science libraries & archives. I really hope down the road we read this and find ways to ensure none of what we saw during the pandemic is ever repeated. Riveting read.

The sequel to We Want Them Infected is done! COVID killed 1.2 million Americans while vaccines saved millions. Yet, disinformation superspreaders were empowered, where they are taking a wrecking ball to science & medicine. How did that happen?🧵 sciencebasedmedicine.org/everyone-els...

Flu shot saves lives. Remember: children aged 6 months and older are eligible to receive a flu shot. Two doses, one month apart are required if receiving a flu shot for the first time in children aged 8 and under.

“While working Canadians are paying higher rates than their ultra-wealthy fellow citizens... the government is currently considering a so-called austerity budget that is almost certain to make these problems worse.” - @sabivm.bsky.social and Hon. Ratna Omidvar www.hilltimes.com/story/2025/0...

Canada's exploding wealth inequality requires tax changes

Our current tax code is not asking the wealthy to reinvest in our economy, and that failure is weakening services and programs working Canadians may use to get ahead.
