'its messed up how every time i want 2 make a good drawing i have to 1st spend an hour or more warming up by making bad drawings. like do surgeons spend their mornings making too big incisions & sewing crooked stitches. do limo drivers have to shake out by bumping into other cars & running red lights for a bit. this is a ridiculous waste of time.'

Garffeld as Pangur Bán (from Seamus Heaney’s translation)

The following comic is based on Pangur Bán, translated by Seamus Heaney. “My Garffeld and I at work / adepts, equals, cat and clerk: / his whole instinct is to hunt, / mine to free the meaning pent”; panels 1 and 2 show Jon at a desk writing while Garffeld eyes a mouse.

“More than loud acclaim, I love: / books, silence, thought, my alcove. / happy for me, Garffeld then / child-plays round some mouse’s den.” Panel 1 shows Garffeld chasing a mouse towards a large stack of books while Jon writes; then panel 2 shows Garffeld sitting on a pile of books that were knocked over in a cloud of dust, while Jon looks over.

Besides putting your e-mail front-and-center everywhere, other tips to boost your hire-ability as a creative online 🧵: - Have a genuine portfolio site. Behance or Coroflot is fine if that's daunting, just something not social media. Link to it in your bios! (through linktree is fine)

An off-screen #comic cut scene I drew for my #dnd #aliceinwonderland campaign! Really, an excuse to gush about my friends' characters through my NPC, but also drop some lore and introduce a new Wonderland encounter: The Duchess! (1/4)

Goes by *Aster* [aster is spelled out in smoke bubble letters coming from the caterpillar's pipe). Ha-ha, ain't that swell?
