The TOS being so strict that they control you offsite is the problem; sites like Patreon and Kofi have offsite clauses too. The social criminalization of the suggestion that somewhere you might be doing nsfw is a problem. It's branding a person as obscene and we need consumers to stand up for us

a bunch of popular ASMR artists lost their channels forever this week, after YouTube cited them for violating terms against "sexually gratifying" content: www.404media.co/youtube-asmr...

If you're part of the BioWare or Sims community and want to talk about how those studios' queer characters and themes have impacted you and your fears for those series moving forward after this sale, I'd love to chat with you for a Kotaku story. Can be reached here or email kshepard@kotaku.com

Well, I guess Electronic Arts belongs to Saudi Arabia, private equity, and Jared Kushner now. https://kotaku.com/electronic-arts-officially-belongs-saudi-arabia-jared-kushner-now-2000721666

this is fucked on a few levels. first, the violation isn't with content hosted on YouTube itself, but has to do with linking out to "sexually gratifying" content on other platforms, often using aggregators like Linktree. SWers are very familiar with this; IG is notoriously strict about it, too

"We terminated these channels for linking to content that violates our nudity and sexual content policy," a spokesperson for YouTube told 404 Media in a statement. "Our external link policies apply equally to all creators across YouTube, and this action was taken in accordance with our long-standing policies, not as a change in policy or targeting of ASMR content."

Why is everyone now like "horror movies are booslop" "Shakespearian sonnets are poemslop" "food is just fuelslop." Literally just saw someone call Proust "longslop." Did the AI companies pay all these posters to make "slop" a random suffix so it wasn't associated with LLM outputs anymore?

I wish more people understood that many artists put "everything I post is consensual and all characters are 18+" not because they are on a moral high horse and being puritanical, but because they are trying to cover their asses from getting banned from every site ever.

Like thereโ€™s all the arguing about canon vs non-canon, and โ€œthe creator ships itโ€ or โ€œactors ship itโ€ or โ€œactors hate itโ€ I just saw someone say โ€œwhy is there fic about this pair when the creator said they donโ€™t like it!?โ€ and Iโ€™m baffled at that mindset tbh Cannot relate
