It is a zero-sum conflict over who gets water, which regions are abandoned to desertification, and whether public funds should protect corporate agriculture or local communities.

There are 129 data centres here, each using at least 0.5 million L a >Day< - that’s 182.5 million L per annum. Multiplied by 129 centres = 23.5 billion per annum*.

Every data centre needs to be self-sufficient in green energy. These centres are here because of our unique climate & political stability. They need us more than we need them. At the v least they should be subsidising the cost of domestic electricity. They are unsustainable. They don’t create jobs.
Fiana Faíl and Fine Gael are supporting fossil fuel interests at every turn.
