I think if people really saw trans women as having experiences contiguous with cis women, the insights that would develop from gender discourse would be a little astounding. This would require us to abandon some of the essentialist notions we have about cis women, however.

My life changed a lot this year, these last few years. It's scary. It's scary even if it's nice and I don't know the path forward, and I mistrust the parts that feel familiar, and it's a very strange thing to be feeling in your thirties, to be wary of the familiar, to be bent towards the possible.

It's like they fell in love with the tragic picture painted by second wave feminism instead of seeing it as something to be overturned. "Sex-based rights" is like something you'd hear from a televangelist's wife.
