Finally finished my TVA reread. The description of Lestat limping/staggering up to the house in Metairie at the end will always make me emotional. MY COMATOSE BOY. I love this book so much. I need to revisit it more than once every 5 years 😆

It's been over 24 hours since I watched the episode, but I'm still thinking about Strange New Worlds going full-Event Horizon. Never thought I'd see a Trek show do legitimately creepy and gory psychological horror. I LOOOOVED it.

A person on tiktok with access to the New Orleans newspaper archives has given me an amazing birthday gift this year: I have never been able to find a picture of this fucking ad from 1996!

Reeeeally tempted to do a rewatch of The Newsreader. Dale Jennings, beloved. (It sucks being a Sam Reid fan, but also hating the adaptation of the thing you love the most that he's starring in. Fuck, he could have been THE Lestat to me. I will never not be mad about this)

I feel VERY STRONGLY about all this but I think more people should also feel as strongly as I do that scrubbing fiction into something "wholesome" and "ethical" is fascist, pro-censorship, and pro-capitalist.

The “omg you’re not letting the tale seduce you” people are so annoying to me. I WAS seduced by The Vampire Lestat. The book, by Anne Rice. It makes total sense that I’m not going to be seduced by something that makes total mockery out of my beloved, yes?

The book The Vampire Lestat is a gorgeous emotional philosophical Odyssey that is filled with memorable characters and intensely cinematic scenes that are haunting and beautiful and iconic, and has one of the most lovable central characters I have ever read about. It's a gift that it exists.

Now that the abomination that is TVL is over, I feel confident in saying that Hannah Moscovitch and Rolin Jones should never be allowed to "adapt" anything ever again. That show is not an adaptation of the book The Vampire Lestat. It's a nonsensical garbage fire. #tvlspoilers

When will these vampires start behaving like vampires? Why are they always in restaurants? Why are they drinking beer? Why are fledglings out in the sun and getting a tan? Why are they not hunting and erotically drinking from mortals? Why everything #tvlspoilers

Of course they completely mischaracterised Marius and changed his motives and his relationship to Lestat. Because Rolin came into it thinking of Marius as a "controversial character", and he's pandering to the part of the fandom that also ignorantly hates on Marius. #tvlspoilers

Four episodes in and this show continues to be offensively awful. These actors deserve MUCH better material than "Claudia lookalike is paid to act like Claudia" and the shoehorned in Temu version of Devil's Minion (guess what? It can't be Devil's Minion because they're OCs now). #tvlspoilers

Truly sick of seeing TVL show fans who are book readers blindly defending the terrible writing and the disrespect the writers continue to show Anne's books, while still trying to compare the show to the source material. It's one of the worst things I've ever seen in my life, and not just on TV.

Post AMC TVL episode 3 thoughts: Loved Nicki and Lestat, as I thought I would. Those scenes (particularly after Nicki becomes a vampire) felt like they could've been in a different superior adaptation. Lestat felt like the real Lestat for once, not the asshole he usually is.

Idk why but it makes me really sad to see some long time Anne Rice book fans settling for something as fucking awful as TVL. "We should be grateful"? For what, an insulting pale imitation of an "adaptation"? You deserve better! Stop licking Rolin and Hannah's boots, it's embarrassing! 🤧
