Trump thinks he humiliated Zelensky. He humiliated the United States of America. And he made the world a much more dangerous place. Mob boss foreign policy will not work. The Trump-Putin axis fully came out of the closet today.

On the day of russian invasion of Ukraine, 3 years ago, a big march of support is going on in Tbilisi. It started from the Ukrainian embassy and is moving towards the daily protest location infront of the parliament. On the way, people stopped at the Taras Shevchenko statue. 🇺🇦🇬🇪

Georgia's self-proclaimed government, the Georgian Dream Party, is illegitimate. In a resolution, MEPs called on the international community to join the boycott of the self-proclaimed authorities, who they accuse of eroding the country’s democracy & cracking down on dissents.

Today, more than ever before, dozens of protesters and some journalists among them are getting calls or visits from the police notifying them about being fined "for blocking road" on Rustaveli. The amount of fine is USD 1,770 now.

Today was an emotionally and physically taxing day with protesters deciding to try and block the main artery connecting Tbilisi to western Georgian and it’s northern border. Didn’t manage to post earlier as I just got home, so here’s a quick 🧵 for those interested

The brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters, journalists and politicians tonight in Tbilisi is unacceptable. Georgia falls short of any expectation from a candidate country. The EU stands with the people of Georgia in their fight for freedom and democracy.

When a government is morphing openly and brazenly into a full blown dictatorship, restricting freedom of speech, physically assaulting kids, women and elderly and detaining critical voices - the response from the people will only be one:

📌 Mzia Amaghlobeli has dedicated her life to the freedom of #Georgia and to the cause of freedom in general. Today, when we call for freedom for Mzia, we are also calling for #freedom for Georgia, for all political prisoners, and for everyone standing up against dictatorship! @netgazeti.org

Independent media outlets Batumetelebi and Netgazeti founder and director, Mzia Amaglobeli was sentenced to prison today. In protest, all TV stations not controlled by the govt. have temporarily stopped their broadcasting. Meanwhile, far right government station POS TV is airing russian TV series

“This will be Georgia without critical media. Freedom for Mzia Amaglobeli and all political prisoner. We are on strike!” Independent and critical media outlets hold a symbolic three-hour strike. #Georgia #GeorgiaProtests

For 32 days, the Georgian people have faced down regime violence to fight for fair elections & a future away from Russia and with the EU. Every democracy globally needs to publicly state that we have their backs. The Russian state is the world’s foremost terrorist. Georgia’s fight is our fight.

THIS! @helsinkicomm.bsky.social Chair Joe Wilson will introduce the Georgian Nightmare Non-Recognition Act next week, which will √ prohibit U.S. recognition of the GD regime in Georgia √ recognize Salome Zourabichvili as the only legitimate leader in Georgia until free and fair elections
