Chatting to the BBC, as one does, about the Kitchener Camp rescue on the annual trip to Sandwich this week, where the camp was located. It’s the first time I’ve had a chance to return since 2019, and it was lots of fun. Thank you @theajruk.bsky.social for organising the trip and the BBC interview!

I hosted this interview with @drcweissenberg.bsky.social, who shared some incredible and fascinating stories about her research into the Kitchener Camp. Please do give it a listen :)

It's the Easter half term! If you're looking for something to do, don't forget the museum is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. You can visit the museum and 16th century courtroom. We also have clothes for children to get dressed up in and a space to colour in some Sandwich themed drawings!

Photograph of the end of a table, which has colouring worksheets on it. The top sheet shows a shield with a coat of arms, which has been coloured in. There is a pile of colouring pencils on top of the sheets. There is a plastic children's crown, which is red and gold towards the back of the table and a decorative, silver, plastic sword laying diagonally in front of it, on top of the sheets.

We are absolutely delighted to have been featured in the recent episode of the BBC's Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. We welcomed David Harper and Moira Stuart into the museum to learn about the Magna Carta from Maggie, a member of our wonderful volunteer team! www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

We may have been closed for a few weeks but we have been doing some important work, particularly ensuring the museum is looking especially shiny for the new year! We're now open as normal, Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm so please do come and visit us.

A photograph of the interior of a museum. There are dark grey interpretation panels with the following titles "Battle of Sandwich", "Whitefriars Priory", "The Huguenots of Sandwich", "Sandwich Custumal" and "The Sandwich Magna Carta" along the walls and inside a display case. The glass doors of the display case are open and there is only one object inside. The rest of the objects are on tables to the side of the room. They have been removed so the cases can be cleaned.

As we're approaching 2025, which is, as it turns out, going to be a big year for us thanks to a certain email from Arts Council England, we have been thinking about what we have achieved in 2024. So, here is a thread, because we don't have enough characters here (that's how good we are) 🧵
