Rufo has hosted 86 episodes with Keeperman — the latest being "The Indian Question" — undoubtedly a reference to the "Jewish Question" talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-r...
More than 1,700 Iranian civilians have died in the Iran Military Conflict. Total deaths likely exceed 8,000 and could be three times that.
Trump is now comparing the number of U.S. soldiers who died during his war with Iran to those who died in past U.S. wars. He's also not calling it a war (it's a war).
Today, @matthewtbodie.bsky.social welcomes the appearance of a kinder, gentler, more ecumenical version of law and economics. Yet in corporate law scholarship, where shareholder primacy still reigns supreme, he finds scant evidence of any such shift.
Twilight of the Gods
Contemporary proponents of law and economics claim to have abandoned the idea that law is an instrument for maximizing economic efficiency and wealth. Corporate law scholars haven't yet heard the good...

The reason I'm kind of a pedant about various past legal developments that are often assimilated to categories like "market reasoning" or "market logic" or the like by critics is that I strongly feel this has a tangible effect of conceding internal coherence to the positions the critic opposes.
"In 2018, when the great Pakistani poet Fahmida Riaz died, Omar Ali’s obituary for Brown Pundits carried Ruchira’s English translation of Aqlima, Fahmida’s furious feminist meditation on the forgotten sister of Cain and Abel." www.brownpundits.com/2018/11/21/r....

I don't care about the World Cup, obviously, but my mother did and favored Spain over the remaining teams 👍🏽 she would have loved it if a real underdog made it into the finals but also would have enjoyed this to the last
fucking frozen pizza ass lookin moon. making me wanna eat it. jerk.
One thing about my mom dying is that I plan on calling out rank stupidity where I see it more clearly than before.
JD Vance truly represents the standard-economics-outlook-criticism of fools ... no, complete idiots
I regret to inform you that JD Vance has gotten another thing wrong about economics (and economists): www.cato.org/blog/jd-vanc...
In a sure sign that the thing I've been studying has infected my brain, I found myself thinking "well, a parent pre-deceasing their child is less total trauma in the world than vice versa"
One thing to understand is that Hale and the Institutionalists were just a lot more intelligent than most people on the Supreme Court at the time
It's important to understand that classic "lochner era" cases like Adair and Coppage are really not based on the self-coordinating market idea *at all*. Not even a little bit.
We had just been emailing about a trip she planned to take to Central Texas. I am kicking myself for all the times I went to Houston and never arranged to meet her.
She was one of my favorite online friends for almost 20 years. I will miss her writing, her art, and our private correspondence dearly.
My mother Ruchira (Mitra) Paul passed away suddenly last night. July 23, 1951-July 7, 2026. I will have more to write about her later. She was intelligent, curious, beautiful, and unerringly fair-minded even when social conventions were not. Anything I may be able to do in this life comes from that.
Didn't see this post at the time from my mom, who mostly spent her online time on facebook. Sharing it now.
In 1988 we were not US citizens and couldn't vote for Jesse Jackson. But we followed his campaign closely. A flawed man in many ways, Jesse was a very attractive man. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1mq...

Brandeis was (I think pretty clearly?) the best and most all around sensible pre-1940 Supreme Court Justice and interestingly the first minority of any kind to be appointed to the court - which does not precisely prove the rightness of Woke, but doesn't not prove it either
Felix Frankfurter: annoying and overrated at all points, not just later
My whole schtick at this point in time is 'free markets as an idea were way less important in pre-1945 American history than the CW thinks and are way more important now than the CW seems to think'
weird asymmetry for much 19c econ? the inframarginal seller (id'd with landowners by eg Ricardo) is presumed to get MORE than his costs (b/c market price set by others' higher cost); but the inframarginal WORKER is presumed to get less than she produces (b/c market wage set by others' lower product)
Private equity is buying America's hospitals and nursing homes. The playbook: pile on debt, sell the building, cut staff. The result, one landmark study found: patient deaths up about 11%. #news #information #privateequity
It's interesting how for the matcha au lait, particularly among fancy cafe drinks, the home-made version is better 95% of the time
"Liberal Socialism ... must be democratic. It must come from below, not from above ... It must engage the efforts and respond to the genuine desires not of a handful of superior beings, but of great masses of men."
yelling 'it's not laissez fuckin faire' at the computer is normal behavior in this neighborhood
