Increasing anxiety about this autumn and winter already- going to be really short staffed and my chest is starting to get worse already. Now not sleeping well and having dreams about not being able to breathe in various work related settings. I have no idea how to get it better

Fabulous service from DPD-not Couldn’t find my address, didn’t email me to tell me this, parcel on way back to place I ordered it from😡
Oxford - please join another unity march against the far right. 12pm Manzil Way, Sat 17th October. It's really important that we show them 'there are many many more of us than you'. The first unity march last autumn was a really joyful event, music, drums and a positive welcome all along Cowley Rd
Sore throat, snotty nose, waking coughing at night. The start of the inexorable slide towards winter with crappy lungs?
One of my lush colleagues is leaving to follow her passions & I’ll really miss her. Yes we can recruit someone (who'll bring new energy), but you can’t replace a person- the laughter, the support, what we experienced together. It's people & relationships that make work meaningful, let's honour that.
I am actually too angry to post about this sensibly.
Over on X, the far-right British Patriots have launched a hate campaign against the RNLI They are recording RNLI volunteers in order to dox them, reveal their identities and publish details of where they and their families live These men are dangerous
Managed to sort out mum’s sewing machine I’ve inherited. The overlocker not so much!
Last week some of the Guides made pronoun badges. One of our leaders has to leave, because how can she stay in Guiding who have kicked out trans girls when her daughter is trans, and some of the older ones want to write to GGUK to complain. We are doing some other work around equalities too.
It’s harvest season. Plums this weekend. 40 jars of jam, a plum cake, a bucket for a friend who is a chef. At least 3/4 of the fruit still on the tree😳
Do you think the government will stock up on essential drugs, given they are telling us to stock up on food? Resisting the temptation to over-order my prescription meds www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Stock up on food to prepare for extreme El Niño weather, minister says
Dame Angela Eagle warns the weather event could lead to extreme storms this winter.

💙 A huge thank you to everyone who helped make #ELFPatientOrgDay2026 such a success! Inspiring speakers, engaging group discussions and shared ideas highlighted the power of patients and professionals working together to improve lung health. #ERSCongress2026 @europeanrespsoc.bsky.social

Just in the train going past the remnants of Reading Festival. The rubbish left behind is shocking. Surely something should be done to prevent this level of waste and utter disregard for the environment & sustainability.
The anxiety caused by having to wait for an echo. The frustration of not yet meeting criteria for a diabetes pump. The extra flare up & stress caused by waiting for a gastro consultant appt. People like this get referred for Psychology input 'to cope', when what they need is timely medical care.
Too many people are forced into unnatural environments or made to feel 'wrong' for needing something different. Quieter people don't need to be more sociable; reflective people don't need to have a louder voice. And 'therapy culture' is guilty of colluding with this. Let people be.
As I was going on leave, there was a request to fill rota gaps. I said I could do any of about 4 out of 6 options. Just seen the rota, I’m down for all 4, and then looked at calendar- I’ve tickets for a comedy gig and guide/scout gang show on 2 of them Will I ever get this right???
I’ve got to go to work tomorrow. Not sure I fancy that. Trying to persuade myself to go to bed having decompressed a bit post Guides
Car still in being fixed (at horrible cost) so driving a hire car. How do people cope with the sensory overload of some cars? Tick tock as the indicators go, bleep if you drive at 71mph in a 70, flashes on the screen if you are not entirely central in a lane (avoiding potholes) etc etc
I’ve failed annual leave. Only read one book 😳 Have cleared my mum’s clothes and shoes, which dad couldn’t face doing, rewritten my will, sorted all the non-fiction books in the house, deep cleaned my wife’s bit of the craft room and done some Guide planning, but not a restful reading week!
Having gone down to clear out mum’s clothes and shoes, I now know quite how many she had 😳 Several sets of the same pair in different colours, lots which had barely a scuff on the bottom. 2 pairs I might wear Vinted tomorrow for size 6 pas de rouge, hispanitas, Mephistos etc😂
Shoe decisions. 13yr old laid out shoes/boots stored downstairs and made me make decisions about which ones to get rid of. In a reality TV clear out style. Five pairs gone! Which ones do you think didn't make the cut?!?

We are responsible for the neighbourhood cat tonight (she owns the next door neighbours but we are her ancillary slaves). She can’t wake us up because we sleep upstairs. I’m nervous she will get herself into trouble being out overnight but she often is- just has the option of getting in if needed 😬
Poor care or lack of a human approach in healthcare can't be fixed by getting people to engage with some kind of compassion/kindness training. The routine conditions we have- the focus on tasks, protocols, & performance metrics- actively work against an approach that'd support human connection.
Lovely morning for a walk to work from the station, bright and sunny but not too warm It’s a shame the Scotrail app still doesn’t work though - charged me twice as much for a ticket as it should have (2 singles instead of a return) and then wouldn’t download them 🙄
Just to note: Provoiding psychological support to people who are made anxious because of long waits for care, isn't as good as just providing timely care. Thanks.
My far, far better half @gailmyerscough.co.uk is having an incredibly tough month business-wise. Her website is full of amazing, stylish designs and it’d be great if you could visit her website and who knows, maybe even purchase something www.gailmyerscough.co.uk - if you could plse share this 👍👍

Helpfully, the dealership where I bought the car and had it serviced 3 weeks ago doesn’t do breakdowns🙄 The nearest recommendation is in Edinburgh Any recommendations for an EV garage in Stirling/Falkirk/Perth that does?
