“Moderately inspiring” Bailey, 2023 Previously the (Labour) Member of Parliament for Ilam, Aotearoa NZ. Former midwife and lecturer. Pro choice. Pro democracy. Pro science. Proponent of kindness and empathy in politics. Yes, politics. Opinions my own.

I have direct personal experience of stalking and harassment by Young Nats. I’m not the only one. So do, please, tell me more about the years of work you and your party put into this legislation, Christopher. Or did you just coat-tail on the work of far better people, from the left? #nzpol

The members bill to make stalking a crime was literally lodged by Labour Party's Ginny Anderson in response to a murder that happened in 2022. Luxon wont tell you that though 🤷

Hope everyone’s doing OK after that quake in Te Anau? Remember that a long OR strong earthquake can cause a tsunami - so if you are near a body of water, including lakes, move to higher ground immediately. Do not wait for an official warning. ❤️ Take care of each other ❤️

Returning from grabbing spectacular Matariki pastries and purple wheat sourdough from Jerry and George at The Colombo, we saw the most insanely beautiful TRIPLE rainbow. Full arch double rainbow, with patches of a third arch visible. Crap pic, stunning in reality. ✨ Mānawatia o matariki! ✨

A bright rainbow in a low arch over a silver tree and slate roof. The rainbow is doubled one on top of the other, red touching violet, and a third rainbow is not shown but stretches over them both.

I shall be in Vancouver in December - what should I do/see/eat? I’m not a big city kinda girl - but I love museums and art and indigenous anything and nature and will also have the beloved with me who will love what I love 🤣 ❤️🇨🇦

❌ DO NOT DRIVE OR WALK THROUGH FLOODWATER! ❌ A vehicle can be swept away in mere inches of water. It’s far less than you think. This is a major cause of fatalities during events like this, and you are risking the lives of potential rescuers too. That water is full of hidden hazards, often 💩 too

While we enjoy celebrating the Solstice across the world - spare a thought for the poor National Trust workers in the UK who have to move all those huge Neolithic stone circles back an hour.

A trailer, pulled by a National Trust Land Rover, is apparently loaded with one of the Neolithic stones in Avebury. The field is shrouded in mist and other circle stones loom in the backgrounded. A totally real picture. Actually.

In all the <stuff> some good news! I am proud to have contributed in a small way to this legislation which, while not all we need to do, will make a huge difference in this space. Huge mihi to all who have worked so hard on this for so long (looking at you @akwomenscentre.bsky.social!). #nzpol

From yesterday, Tuesday 26th May, stalking is now a crime. This could be a major boost for the freedom of women and communities - and we'll be watching to see it's implemented properly 👀

As a cisgender, heterosexual woman I think it important to state very clearly that I stand strong with my transgender whānau. While this bill is legislatively incoherent drivel, it is causing great harm and should be stopped NOW. Sign if you feel the same. Please. #nzpol

E Tū E Kī: They Don’t Speak for Us - Block the Definition of Woman Bill

Writing emails of support to MPs who are vocal allies is really important, too. They are on the front line, and trust me when I say that a kind word goes a very long way. They need strength for this fight, they need to know we see them and when they stand we are right behind them. #nzpol
