Looks like I might actually get some cucumbers out on the balcony! 🥳 Zucchini is hopeless though: powdery mildew. ☹️ #vegetablegardening
Bok choy is starting to flower; time to have a final harvest, and then replant. Sooo many salads, though! 😋 #vegetablegardening #hydroponics
We are thrilled to share that book three in the Detective Beans series is available for pre-order! 🔎 😸 Join Beans and Biscuit as they work to solve the next case in The Map of Mystery! 🗺️ @exocomics.com publishing.andrewsmcmeel.com/book/detecti...
Tsar Nicholas is beset by requests from his military to expand the mobilisation; the generals insist that a "partial" mobilisation is impossible to implement without crippling delays and confusion, which would only benefit their potential enemies.
Tiny Tim tomatoes and Bok Choy for lunch! There are about a half dozen green Tiny Tims still on the plant, and about a dozen green Laura #5 across four plants, so I might get a few more tomatoes next month. Bok Choy just keeps regrowing! 🥳 #vegetablegardening #hydroponics #kratky
Richard L. Palmer, in his deposition to Congress, 1999. While denying/dismissing the similarities between Russia and USA _back then_, he gave the ultimate eerie prediction of today. bsky.app/profile/wilh... #1/2
Once again, this retired Journalism professor fixes an erroneous Washington Post headline:
👵: “No, sweetie, I’m sorry. We’re not going to have breakfast at 4am just because you woke me up at 3:45.” 😿: 😿
My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
I’m ready for July to be over. Please. Still recovering from a horrible June, but getting there, slowly. Getting a 1/3 size paycheck in June was tough and things only wobble back into equilibrium slowly. … and only three kinds of cat food left now. 😿
I’m ready for June to be over. Please.
The current version of the balcony garden: peppers, cucumbers, and maybe zucchini. #vegetablegardening
Well at least I can fairly say that I grew peppers this year, because these are the second and third ones that have appeared! I'm surprised the flopped over, bug-eaten plant made a pepper, but somehow, it did! #vegetablegardening
And the final object looks... like this! Well, I hope it's final! Black on the bottom to block light that would grow algae in the tank. Stronger clips around the hole to hold it in place. Thicker tube because printing at the end of a flexible tube gets wobbly. 64D TPU. #3Dprinting #Hydroponics
Today's mystery object! #3DPrinting #Hydroponics
First successful test! Was able to drain the hydroponic tank in just a couple of minutes using a pump instead of the drain plug. #3Dprinting #hydroponics

Not quite finished, but both Lesya and Taras are now set up for printing from dry boxes in a variety of configurations. #3DPrinting
Two harvests, one salad made from a harvest, and a closeup of what’s still growing! Tony Tim tomatoes from a tiny 500mL kratky pot, and Toy Choi in an Ahopegarden countertop hydroponic unit. All in my kitchen! #vegetablegardening #kratky
Roberts had grown so rich, he wanted to retire… so he took me to his cabin and told me his secret. "I am not the Dread Pirate Roberts," he said.
I don’t know how to tell my cat that we’ve run out of money, and, starting on Sunday, she’ll be limited to just three different kinds of cat food for the rest of the month. 😭😿 (Please don’t tell her I also have a case of canned chicken for emergencies… 🤭… that’s supposed to be for me!)
I won an award or something today AND walked more than a mile because I had to go fetch my car and move it back into my parking spot but it took a couple of tries because somebody else was parked in my spot! 😱 Being disabled is fun. 😐 Tired now.
All right. Where is the poison? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide, and we both drink… and find out who is right… and who is dead.
Indoor vs outdoor Kratky Bok Choi after about three and a half weeks. Conclusion? There just aren’t enough photons out on my balcony. #vegetablegardening #kratky
Tomato and bok choy update. Tiny Tim will probably get partially harvested this weekend. Laura #5 in mason jars have a couple fruits but have otherwise stalled. I trimmed them quite a bit because they were hitting the lights. #vegetablegardening #kratky
Testing the screw holes for a two-part Kratky tank lid that can be bolted together. This might allow the plants to be moved around even after their roots become too large to be safely pulled through the pod hole. #vegetablegardening #kratky #3dprinting

There are some words out there that are brilliantly evocative and at the same time impossible to fully translate. Yiddish has the word shlimazl, which basically means a perpetually unlucky person. Ger...

My parents are about to throw away an Apple II Plus in the DFW area that was working when last booted in the early 90s. Anyone into retro computers have an idea of how I would match it with an interested hobbyist?
