What is a movie that you feel so out of sync with the world at large on that when you hear people talk about it, you feel like you’re going crazy?

Have any other NYCers noticed a trend of people in their 30s and 40s walking around wearing cowboy boots with otherwise “business casual” attire? Is this a thing? I can’t be the only one seeing this.

Congress could use some more subway riders! I'm ready to fight in Washington for the federal funding that NYC's transit system so desperately needs.

Recently told my book club that Baggu was Vera Bradley for Millennials (while we were comparing our Baggu bags) & they were *not* pleased with me. But whatever I am correct.

Thrilled this looks as genuinely good as I’d hoped, but also love how collectively determined we are that this *will* be good out of pure spite.

Seeing lots of publishing folks post about Blink & yes, I hate “clean YA” too, but hasn’t Blink existed for a while? Am I Mandela Effect-ing myself? Because I definitely remember this same convo about this same imprint in like 2016… right? Older publishing friends, help me out.

Speaking of writers still using their own words & who put in the work of researching and revising and being brilliant, my favorite person @byseanferrell.bsky.social sold his excellent historical horror novel, IN THE FIELDS WE THIRST & I am beyond happy for him! 🧛🏻🖤🧛🏻

There are still more writers using their own words and ideas to write novels than there are people using AI to “write.” It’s not inevitable. People with integrity aren’t being “left behind.” AI content is still just plagiarism.

Sad to see all these opinion pieces this week from authors arguing in favour of using AI to write books, all of them falling into the "it's inevitable" and "everyone is doing it" trap but simply revealing that they are lazy and lack integrity. If you don't want to write a book, you don't have to.

Nobody is going to steal your idea for a novel.

Obviously Nicholas Brendan = Xander. That was always going to be the first line of his obit, so I’ll recommend two non-Buffy projects that deserved way more attention: 1) Psycho Beach Party, 2) Coherence. Wildly different films, both underrated gems.

the intense Buffy nostalgia is not really nostalgia, I think, just longing for the best show to ever explain that you have to keep on fighting the Big Bads even when you don’t want to do it anymore
