The entire right-wing propaganda machine came after Zohran Mamdani. The president and his allies came after him. Democratic leaders, by and large, did not have his back until the last minute. He still won, turning out historic numbers and inspiring young voters. His politics can win anywhere.

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers. Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they? Hello?

Divider-in-chief. I'd forgotten how nauseating it is to listen to a president politicize a tragedy, to debase and disparage his opponents at a moment that calls for reflection and healing.

Conservatives are sharing a video about a cultural competence training that was part of new employee orientation for LA firefighters. I have news for them about the efficacy of one-time, one hour workshops.

My manifesto (er, article) is out in AERA Open today! It’s about how #neoliberal & #racial capitalist logic worms its way into far too many project-based learning experiences, and what #educators can do about it. Come for the righteous anger. Stay for the solutions! @aeraedresearch.bsky.social

Hands-down the best thing about not being Christian is taking the late flight cross-country on Christmas Eve and having the flight attendants shower you with kindness and sympathy and extra snacks and drinks because you’re “missing out.”

Things I made today: fresh sourdough pitas, crispy fried tofu, curried peanut sauce, sautéed kale, spicy greenbeans, pumpkin cheezecake. Plant-based Thanksgiving is delicious — and sustainable!

Fresh-baked pitas!

Chew on this: Trump's #education agenda includes project-based learning -- because, duh, capitalism: "President Trump will support project-based learning inside the classroom to help train students for fulfilling work outside the classroom." PBL folx, how do we jump on this train and hijack it?

Effective pedagogy must first of all be affective pedagogy. Just saying. In the words of neuroscientist Mary Helen Immordino Yang “it is literally neurobiologically impossible to think deeply about things that you don't care about.” Make learning matter.

Hello, blue-skied world! By way of introduction: I’m a teacher, teacher-educator, scholar, academic mama. I’m also a bread-maker, a musician, and a trail runner. I care a lot about public schools and what happens in them. For my politics, see: Bernie, Reich, AOC. And Freire. Always Freire.
