Both types: curate for who you're showing to. I think lots of folio advice can make it seem like there's a One True Best Practice TM for your folio, but curating to purpose shows that that you have good awareness of your own work *and* the ability to select for what a client/reviewer needs to see

Hey artists! Next Tuesday, Apr 14, is #PortfolioDay! I thought it would be fun to do a little knowledge sharing for the art community ☺️ What are your top tips for building a professional art portfolio? How do you approach it differently if it's digital or physical?

Tape Roulette 31 is tonight! These are the 30 tapes on tonight's wheel. I've been saving 2 Easter tapes just for this occasion, but I'm most excited for the sealed San Antonio history tape produced by a local TV station. I'll be slangin' tapes on Twitch from 8pm-2am ET at: www.twitch.tv/daxjackson

Hey all I'm looking for work! I'm experienced in character design and costume for games and film as well as illustration for books and TTRPGS. I'm based out of BC Canada looking for freelance or full time. My portfolio is linked in the first comment, thank you for shares!

if your values hit this won't matter! beyond that, color is relative anyway, so it's not about the hex code but instead the relationship between colors in your piece. if your hue turns are so minor and precise as to be ruined on a different monitor, then I guarantee they're not working anyhow

Listen to me. Listen. If you're making images that will only be displayed on screens, YOU HAVE TO LET GO. You can calibrate your screens perfectly, but then 25k people will see it on their shitty $50 monitors or cracked phone and its out of your hands. Don't think of it. Achieve enlightenment.

Mm. If I had to guess, I think one reason art discourses like these happen so much is bc a lot of our workforce is really young and new, and there is very little opportunity to maintain institutional knowledge—a lot of our colleagues and forebears burn out and go elsewhere.

Do I (or do you?) know anybody who does commissioned digital art, is available, and can (with urgency) create an incredible, soft, ephemeral magical water painting-style piece? While I know tons of incredible game artists I sadly never paid too much attention to their waterpainterly work.
