Mostly tediously twee nonsense. Sporadic enthusing about flamenco dancing and cycling to see Cardiff Bay's sunrises. Occasional passing references to being a weary, aging academic librarian.

Here a compilation of stupid things library consultants have said to me in solidarity with library pals at Lambeth Libraries where genius consultants has decided that a qualified head of library service post isn't really essential.

I went to Flight Club with colleagues and had a lovely time, despite our entire group being appallingly bad at darts. Or maybe it was *because* our entire group was appallingly bad at darts. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention I've done some socialising this week.

I find myself in Llandovery. No, I'm not sure where I am, either. But I need a cardigan, so I'm bloody delirious right now. So far, I've seen this castle, marvelled at the most wedding dresses in a charity shop I've ever seen, and had some nice poached eggs on toast in Caffi Tudor.

Ruins of a castle on a grassy mound.

S4C's live Tour de France coverage is back. I wish I'd spotted this two hours ago, but dim ots, I'm enjoying it now. And chwarae teg, I watched for a whole 20 minutes before Geraint was mentioned.

I find it so, so difficult to watch climbs without crowd control barriers in the Tour de France. The arsehole spectators give me palpitations. Especially the overweight, unfit, polyester-clad blokes who try to run alongside the world-class cyclists. À quoi ça sert, hein?

Six hours with my nieces, who are now 11 and 13, and I'm wiped out. It was the incessant miming to annoying soundtracks and filming ourselves, which now passes for entertainment, that did me in. Here's how sad, old and, frankly, confused I look trying to mime a breaking heart on some app.

An older woman, wearing glasses vaguely contorting her hands into the shape of a heart. On the screen are various icons, instructing what to mime to some awful music.

I'm staying overnight in the centre of Bath at a popular hotel chain. I just asked a lady to vacate the lift of said establishment. She was on the lift floor, removing from a pouch what I'm pretty sure was a needle. She was nice about it, fair play. It was just all a bit sad, really.

Went up Beckford's Tower, in Bath, this morning. Because I've been driving past it regularly for years and thought it was about time. I couldn't see Cardiff from the top. Apparently it's often visible. But I know what it looks like already, so I wasn't bothered.

Beckford's Tower behind some trees. The sky is blue. The spiral staircase inside the tower. I felt woozy taking this photo, so there was no way I was leaning over for a more central shot.At the top of the tower. It's cute that they leave binoculars for visitors to use.

16 minutes and counting past curfew. All the talented, big name musicians respect curfews, but not whoever this idiot is. I'm two effing miles away and their noise is keeping me awake. I'm phoning the council to complain on Monday.

I sincerely hope that whoever the heck is playing Cardiff Castle tonight doesn't consider themself a musician, else they are surely in breach of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 and should be arrested immediately.

Lovely pootle earlier this morning near the Purton Hulks, a ships graveyard with wrecks of over 80 old boats, between the River Severn and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. The boats were purposely grounded to prevent riverbank erosion. Met bonus cute dog, not pictured.

A bit of old boat, seemingly on the grass. The Severn was low this morning. The wooden husk of a boat, with giant nails sticking out. It looks old. I think a sign said it was from the 1850s, but I looked at a lot of signs, so I could be wrong.Boat skeleton on grass.Tried to be arty. Failed.

Vague acquaintance on the bus tells me she's going on holiday to Spain on Sunday. "Oh God, it's going to be hotter than here," says I. "I know," she replies. I slap on my sympathy face and nod sadly. "Is your hotel air conditioned?" "I bloody hope so." We both gaze at the blazing sun outside. End.
