'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
Prospect members at Royal Museums Greenwich, which includes the Royal Observatory, are taking strike action on 11 and 12 August. Across the heritage sector our members have been taken advantage of for too long. This summer we are sending a signal that they will not put up with it anymore.

This is really unsafe, and given at least one staff member knew the help point was out of order too, why is no-one working from platform 4 or even keeping a close eye on it @serailway.bsky.social?
Wow @serailway.bsky.social, Lewisham station is in a seriously dangerous position at the moment – on platform 4 not only is the lift STILL out of order, but so is the help point, and it doesn't even have a sign on it despite apparently being down for weeks now, it just rings and rings and then stops
This guy was living his absolute best life 🦝
Overnight, a masked bandit broke into our kitchen. Armed with opposable thumbs, he proceeded to sample everything on offer. I’d just visited the farmers market, so the menu was extensive. I can now share a highly specific peer-reviewed list of what this particular raider did & did not enjoy. 🧵
I've been off socials for 2 years, but have to speak up. Utter madness to defund this flagship institution of UK science + education. International research, UNESCO-level heritage, training physicists (inc. me in 2000), inspiring public w/ visitor centre and bluedot festival. We must #SaveJodrell
Short-sighted, stupid cuts to the UKRI budget include shutting down Jodrell Bank, the icon of British astronomy. (Many other cuts too, including 20% to our brand new @vrubinobs.bsky.social). Interesting politically to shut down a major facility in...um..Manchester 🔭 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Bit lost now the World Cup is over? Fear not, there's still so much you can do with your spare time for FREE in our local community in the coming months. Also take a look at the Great British Summer Savings scheme summersavings.gov.uk (Inspired by @dawnbutlerbrent.bsky.social's videos!)
Lovely long weekend in Cardiff, with thanks to @sarahnicholas.bsky.social and @hipporebecca.bsky.social for tips! (can't see how to reorder photos so enjoy the serendipity)
In Cardiff for the weekend with no fixed plans. Anything we can't miss?

I'll tell you what's especially sad; there's lots of great *real* photos of library-land out there that could have been crowd-sourced and used instead. May I respectfully submit LILAC2016 me doing my past faux-coy and camp "oh hello there" to the photographer. Source: www.flickr.com/photos/lilac...
In things I wish I hadn't seen, but now I have and you will too... New research published in the Journal of the Institute of Conservation recommends PPE for handling all red rot because of the risk of heavy metal contamination (lead, arsenic, cadmium). #GLAMS 📚 www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

So GDS moves to DCMS. Bit of a shock if I am honest.

A very warm welcome to Downing Street, Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
Journalists on Sky News unironically mention they went to the same universities as the outgoing and incoming prime ministers.

At least after sitting through this, Donald Trump will never want to intervene in anything related to soccer ever again.

Two baby beaver kits have arrived at Ealing's Paradise Fields. Reintroduced in 2023 with Ealing Wildlife Group and Citizen Zoo, beavers are already stopping Greenford station from flooding and saving us money on infrastructure. Here’s what they’ve been up to 🦫
