Gets most riled up by bad politics and bad driving, not necessarily in that order. Writing a novel, but who isn't? Newsletter-writer, host of @motionracing.bsky.social, sometimes commentates for @prismaticmotorsports.com She/her https://saschalumi.com

Somehow I've just listened to Björk's 'Debut' all the way through for the first time. What an astonishing, fully realised first solo album. She knew exactly who she was right from the start, but she's kept changing and adapting. A lesson in that.

So Tidal has decided to increase its subscription charge to me by 61%. Is Jack Dorsey trying to kill the company more quickly so he can get back to his mindfulness retreat?

@philippaeast.bsky.social Hi Phillippa! I'm currently writing a novel which I hope will have a first draft by early next year. When you were starting out, what resources did you use to search out and request the services of agents? Did you hire your own editor first or get one through the publisher?

The Missouri AG threatened Daniel Boone Regional Library in Columbia with total defunding and investigations if they read books with LGBTQ+ themes to kids in a Pride story hour. They did so anyway. Our latest story from s. Baum of one library's defiance against an oppressive Republican regime.

Mainstream parties have all decided to either sell trans people out in the hope it increases their share among everyone else, or stay silent. My family back home are worried about me going to Antwerp Pride in a week. Belgium hasn't announced additional police or security, but honestly I think the worst thing that could happen after Berlin is a chilling effect where the people who most need Pride stay away from it.

EXCLUSIVE: New France Manager Zinedine Zidane says he turned down every job offer he received for the previous five years because he liked too much the daily routine of DIY SOS - Come Dine With Me - Bake Off.

I really wish there were more people talking about Rina Sawayama being unable/unwilling to make a new album because of whose pockets it would line. If Dirty Hit don't release her, they're wilfully destroying the career of one of this generation's singular pop voices.

At the moment I'm reading Margo's Got Money Troubles (very touching and funny), and A Memory Called Empire, which was heavy going in the first 20 pages of exposition, but is really gathering steam.

If I were Jake Dennis, I wouldn't stand under any hanging pianos with that kind of luck. He'd got the strategy exactly right, and it was old-school Formula E insanity that stopped him from winning.

By the way, the Motion Racing Podcast is still a thing and has been making (imo) its best episodes ever all season, for the people who still watch Formula E.

I really, really like Alexa Rendell as a broadcaster. Her Formula E interviews always get something new out of drivers and team principals, and the WEC Icons series on YouTube shows her deep car knowledge.

Re new Charli XCX album, I wondered, is this the 'This is Hardcore' / 'Human After All' follow-up where music press names it genius then regrets later? We all had Brat at no. 1 on Spotify Wrapped in 2024 no matter if we listened 5x or 90x, but hey, at least they're doing this for a true artist.
