Last month, seniors from ACOMI and Black Seniors Support Inc. joined us at Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail and Grand Beach to learn about the Lake Winnipeg watershed and spend time by the water. Thanks to our volunteers, Angelle Holmes, The Winnipeg Foundation and Red River Co-op.

More than 100 people wrote to Minister Moyes calling for action on phosphorus pollution from Winnipeg’s North End sewage plant. The appeal deadline has passed, but the need for action has not. We continue to call on the Province to require phosphorus compliance. Lake Winnipeg cannot wait.

It’s a big day for our friends @savelakewpg.bsky.social, gathering to mark a decade of community based monitoring with partners and friends from around the region. What better way to honour the effort than with a new data platform and visualizations! (Spoken like the data fans we are.)

What happens when our lake can’t breathe? In Lake Winnipeg, excessive algal blooms do more than turn the water green. They contribute to fish die-offs and harm aquatic life. When fish disappear, birds and turtles struggle too. Protecting our water protects the wildlife that depends on it.

It's LWF's birthday and everyone's invited! LWF members provide vital financial support for our work and strengthen our collective advocacy for a healthy Lake Winnipeg. When many voices speak up together, our impact surges. That’s why LWF has set the ambitious goal of growing to 10,000 members!
