I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses
Some wild Stockholm Syndrome shit here. Dunking on the entire O/S because of you found a bug in a gnome tool... a bug you've already worked around. A bug that would affect a tiny proportion of normal users. Probably an NTFS drive too, given I've never, ever experienced this. Calm yer horses.
Nash@radiodeadair.com · 2w agoI get really frustrated with Linux people who insist it's ready for prime time, because it remains an OS for people who want to learn how an OS works. The utter fucking annoyance of adding an additional hard drive is maddening. In Windows or MacOS, you just plug it in and you're done. Linux? Nope.

Linux and electric cars have been similar: after I tried them I never wanted to use anything else.
This takes away the skill the streamer brings to the equation. I watch excellent players play difficult games because I learn from them. Noita, for example, is so deep, I'd never have discovered even a fifth of what it offers without incredible talent like FuryForged.

GIMP is awful, but that second paragraph, bait it might be, sent me. SharePoint, Azure, Vista, the entire registry, context menus, driver updates, UAC, file explorer, the list is nearly endless. MS don't have to care about UI. Their customer-base are prisoners.

If only weapon degradation _was_ purposeful and not simply frustrating busy-work, like it is in nearly every game that features it. Once you realise Minecraft only has it to make you mine more, you really learn to resent degradation, not value it. 99% of the time, it's lazy game design.

one interesting thing so far about loudly hating AI is the way AI lovers are like "wow so you're just totally closed off to hearing another perspective??" as if their perspective hasn't been relentlessly pushed down our throats with no space to push back (particularly in professional settings)
