Stop Climate Chaos Scotland

We are a diverse coalition of over 70 civil society organisations campaigning together for climate action and justice in Scotland.

Great to see Burnham's new £2 bus fare cap. Now we need this delivered in Scotland, as a step towards free bus travel & public control. But we wholly object to funding this from the Energy Security budget & global climate justice. Taxes should be reformed so that big polluters fund climate action!

We welcome the appointment of Miatta Fahnbulleh as Sec State for Energy Security and further progress towards clean, home-grown energy. Cutting VAT on electricity bills is a good start, but breaking the link with the volatile gas market is essential for lower, stable bills long term. #breakthelink

Congratulations to Andy Burnham on his appointment as Prime Minister. We welcome his promise to put 'people at the heart of everything' and 'bring back hope'. Only a fast, fair and funded move to renewables will protect people from extreme heat, lower energy bills, create green jobs. #AndyBurnham

"These numbers are stark confirmation that action taken by Scottish Ministers to tackle climate breakdown has been nowhere near strong enough or fast enough." Read our comments on today's Scottish greenhouse gas emissions data on BBC News #climate #politics #scotland www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Scotland's climate emissions fall slightly as progress slows

"My message is simple: do one thing. We are a planet of billions of people. If every person did one thing, the impact would be enormous." Interesting interview from @unep.org in the lead up to #WorldEnvironmentDay

The climate crisis is real. So is the progress being made to tackle it. For #WorldEnvironmentDay, we sat down with two climate scientists to separate fear from fact & unpack the latest science. The world is moving in the right direction, but we need faster action #NowForClimate: bit.ly/43JSHCM

🟡 Shell posted £5.07bn. 🟢 BP reported £2.4bn, more than double last year. 🔴 Equinor made £7.19bn. 🔵 TotalEnergies posted £4bn. Every one of these profits is being driven by rising oil and gas prices in the wake of the Iran war. The same war that is pushing household bills up in July. [2/3]
