Chat, do we think 6:42am on Wednesdays is a reasonable time for my asshole neighbor to run a weekly test of her natgas-powered backup generator?

Today is this wing ding’s gotcha day. One year ago she picked us, a moment of truly great fortune for us all. She likes to hang out with me here in my office when I’m working or surfing. (Not so much when playing the rock.) A+ doggo, would adopt again.

A black and tan dog sleeping on the floor next to me in my office/stuido. The same dog as a tiny baby the day we got her, standing in our back yard and very sassy.

Reached out to my tattoo guy about a piece for my 60th birthday coming up this winter. I assume he can find enough not-dead skin on my arm to make something interesting.

Signed up for races in September and October today, so I guess that’s a little vote of optimism that we won’t all die from diarrhea or fallout in the next eight weeks.

I’m not good with popular culture. I was shocked to discover just now (via idly scrolling YouTube) that Karen Gillan, whom I only know as Nebula from the MCU, is a six-foot-tall redheaded lass from the Scottish highlands. And is bubbly and hilarious. TMYK. 🌈✨

I lot of writers/thinkers I otherwise admire are obviously and deeply struggling with the increasing likelihood of an outspoken leftist Muslim competing for a US Senate seat this fall.

Love to be gaslit by the airlines. American's app says I'm boarding in 30 minutes; the trackers say my plane is 60 minutes from even arriving here. Why do this? Tell the fucking truth! The trackers are free and we all use them!

The Brewers brought Andrew Vaughan in to pitch in a blowout. He’s throwing 35mph rainbows. Ump calling strikes if it’s within a foot First batter somehow took him yard and the scoreboard showed his ERA as infinity. Baseball!

Bartender, randomly: what instrument do you play? Me: uh, guitar? How could you tell? Bartender: you’re singing harmony to Crowded House, on pitch. You’re a musician. Maybe he’s just playing me for a big tip. It worked.

I don't really follow baseball anymore, and every once in a while I see that they still allow the Astros to play in this league, and am surprised all over again.

A long walk in my beautiful town with the dog and a good cigar on a warm summer afternoon, followed with a cold, salt-rimmed margarita at home. We can still find our moments even among the horrors.

Here's a take: the WHCD has *always* been disgusting, even when we didn't hate the president involved. There should *never* be that kind of chummy relationship between the press and the person they're holding to account.
