DHS Contractors Battle Over Deportation Dollars

Migrants are caught in the middle as rival companies fight over immigration enforcement contracts while alleging the procurement system is rigged.

Case in point. This morning ICE posted a sole-source justification handing CSI Aviation up to $305.7 million, with no competition, for ICE Air removal-flight logistics (linked). CSI is the company Salus names in this piece as a beneficiary of exactly these noncompetitive vehicles.

There's a nasty fight between DHS contractors battling each other over deportation dollars and accusing each other of benefitting from a rigged system. Caught in the middle are immigrants, as @dfriedman.bsky.social, Will Sytsma, and I detail www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

WOW. The ex-wife of the ICE officer who shot a 26-year-old Colombian man in Maine has come forward to say that he had mental health issues and was abusive in their relationship. She says after the shooting he called asking her to vouch for him — instead, she went to the press.

Ashley Brouillette told the Portland Press Herald in a phone interview Thursday afternoon that her ex-husband called admitting to the shooting and defending his actions. The Press Herald reviewed a screenshot of incoming calls Ashley Brouillette received from her ex-husband’s current wife’s Facebook account on Wednesday.

“He was asking me to lie for him and to cover for his character,” Ashley Brouillette said. “I told him that I was not going to lie for him. And then he tried to say that it was a justified shooting because the guy tried to hit him with his car.”

She said she has seen videos of Brouillette on the scene of the shooting and confirmed that was him on scene, telling him: “nowhere in there does it show that this man charged at you with a car.”

“In his head it’s justified. He’s unusually calm about it,” she said.Ashley Brouillette told a reporter that she wanted to speak publicly because she had previously reported concerns to his superiors in the military about his mental health. She said he was abusive in their relationship. She said that she’s been inundated with calls, since reports of Brouillette’s involvement began circulating online, threatening her and her family.

The federal immigration agent who shot and killed a 26-year-old Colombian man in Biddeford has been identified as David Michael Brouillette. Brouillette, who is 37 and lives in Manchester, was identified by an ex-wife as the ICE agent who shot Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.

This Bulwark article by Will Sommer about John Solomon is a good summary of the sleazy brand of journalism Solomon practices. I remember him from the Lev Parnas & Igor Fruman days. Solomon apparently had no idea about Fruman's ties to Russian org crime... www.thebulwark.com/p/can-this-p...

New: Officials say intel confirms that Trump’s boat strikes aren’t achieving the purported goal of stopping the flow of drugs. Top WH & Pentagon officials know this. And that apparently hasn’t changed a thing — as sources say Trump is now exploring an *expansion* of operations. @swin24.bsky.social

Trump’s Illegal Boat Bombings Are Just ‘Murder for Murder’s Sake,’ U.S. Official Says

Donald Trump’s boat strikes aren’t working – because they’re ‘not actually designed to end the fentanyl crisis,’ a senior administration official tells Zeteo.

It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.
