So El-Sayed is doing better with Black voters and worse with white voters than most people imagined? That’ll be fun for The Discourse.

Minneapolis Noah Kahan fans: don’t buy drinks or concessions at Wednesday’s show - that’s crossing a picket line. Hundreds of Delaware North food and beverage workers in Minneapolis will be walking out on an unfair labor practice strike. Support workers by joining the picket line before the show!
I dreamt I was in Chicago downtown for some sort of a conference and while I was there, Canadian troops took control of the city
I think being “forced” to watch tv shows I wasn’t interested in, because there was nothing else on, was like a modern twist on oral tradition. Old tv shows passed on cross-generational knowledge and experiences in a way we don’t have anymore, showing us a world and a past that we’ve move on from
It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better

My piece in @pioneerpress.bsky.social: "A mayor without a vision doesn’t just make bad decisions — they make unpredictable ones. Six months into Kaohly Her’s term, St. Paul has learned the difference." www.twincities.com/2026/08/02/c...
Cole Hanson: St. Paul mayor’s lack of vision shows in her bad, unpredictable decisions
“She won last November not because she offered St. Paul a compelling vision but because Melvin Carter didn’t run a meaningful campaign,” Hanson writes.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

We’ve got some kind of heirloom tomato in the garden. They have purple splotches and are supposedly full of antioxidants. I’ve eaten enough that I’m not worried about rusting for a while.
Ideally you'd have regulations that force car manufacturers and tech companies to disable certain phone features and other digital distractions while the car is in motion. That's a heavy regulatory lift, of course, but the goal of advocates is to speak difficult things into existence.
What solutions are out there for getting drivers off their phone? (non-rhetorical)

I know most people frown on secession talk but I seriously don't understand why we'd stay in a country that is actively at war with us
Trump: "We heard in Minnesota there was a cyberattack and they blame it on Iran. I don't think so. I blame it on Minnesota because they're grossly incompetent. Iran's got bigger problems than worrying about Minnesota."
