OTD Jessie Stephen MBE died in 1979. Not much was recorded about the efforts of working-class women in the Suffrage movement, but Jessie wrote her autobiography and claimed her place in history.

OTD Dr Mary McNeill died in 1928. A member of the Orcadian Woman’s Suffrage Society, Dr Mary McNeill was an exceptionally talented medical professional, who was awarded four different medals from three countries from her work during WW1. There are currently no known pictures of her.

🚀 Patreon Gathering on 30 May 10-11am 🚀 Join us as we explore the history of the 1996 Kinning Park Complex Community Sit-In. We'll share historical images of KPC when it was a school, and from the Sit-In when a group of local women and young families demanded that the building should stay open.
⭐️ Herstory Highlights: 📣 Dr Sarah Parker Remond was a lecturer, doctor, activist & campaigner from the US, born in 1826. She fought for education which led her to become a lecturer & a doctor – an incredible achievement considering the challenges she faced in the early 1800s.
