At last night’s Haringey Council meeting I spoke of the importance of protecting residents facing hardship while confronting the budget crisis Compassion and responsibility go hand in hand. Support for the vulnerable remains a priority but only sustainable finances will protect their vital services

Councillor for Highgate ward. Chief whip for Haringey Liberal Democrats and spokesperson for the environment and transport Published and promoted by Haringey Liberal Democrats at 235-239 High Rd, London N22 8HF
Great to hear MP @ollyglover.bsky.social speak on how the lack of a fair voting system is impacting our politics. We need to fix our voting system otherwise we risk stagnating as a country
I am sick of living in a city where bike theft has become basically legal Twice this year I've been a victim. Without the half-decent lock and the great staff at London Hospital Tavern, this would be number 3 This is avoidable. We need safe parking, cameras on site and police to take it seriously
Lovely to attend Highgate Fair in the Square with @nickdacosta.bsky.social Also very proud that my boy Ringo won the award for the dog with the waggiest tail! 🐶🏅
Very happy to have been appointed to chair Haringey Council's Planning Committee. Looking forward to working with colleagues to create a better Haringey 🏘️
The new EHRC Code of Practice is not fit for purpose. It does not provide clear guidance or do enough to protect everyone from discrimination, and it is not compatible with longstanding British values. @EdDavey.LibDems.org.uk and @MarieCGoldman.bsky.social have written to Bridget Phillipson. ⬇️
Thrilled to be elected alongside @nickdacosta.bsky.social to serve as your Highgate Lib Dem councillors. Thank you to everyone who supported our team and especially Marsha Isilar-Gosling, who has served Highgate with dedication. If you ever need help email Highgate@haringeylibdems.org
Just visited Highgate primary school where the children were asking me lots of questions about what it's like to be a councillor and what I'd like to change. Was amazing to see how passionate and knowledgeable they were, the future will be safe with them!
Was out canvassing and Gussy the ice cream man offered me one on house. Do we I have to declare it?

*** Road Closure *** Thames Water will be closing Hornsey Lane, N6 outside number 90, due to a collapsed sewer. The road was closed this afternoon and is expected to remain closed for 14 days. There will be diversions in place, please expect delays
Good turnout today at the Fortis Green action day, some of them here enjoying Viv's chilli!
Great for safety but Lime still needs to address it's two big problems: bad parking and cost. Dockless bikes are a great idea but if they are too expensive and annoy everyone else they are in trouble. The solution, as in many cases: more competition in the market open.substack.com/pub/londonce...
Is this the end of Lime Bike Leg?
Plus: Mudchute City Farm is saved and Angela Rayner brands Asif Aziz's Criterion Capital "incredibly vindictive".

While we were outside the council meeting, demanding security doors for a local estate, lib dems announced they plan to scrap bailiffs in Haringey following our campaign! Things are changing in our borough. Join our branch and fight for your community ✊🚩
Yesterday marked the final meeting for Haringey, I chose to end on the subject of inequality With the elections coming in May, things are set to look very different and, hopefully, we’ll see many Lib Dem councillors elected. If you’re considering getting involved, now is an exciting time to do so!🔶

Very happy to open Stanhope Bridge today. It's so important to protect access to our amazing green spaces and the Parkland Walk is a great example of that.

Very important to campaign on this unfair system www.libdems.org.uk/news/article...

Our pragmatic, costed and achievable plan that would make a real difference to graduates now, while also fixing the system for the long term.

This is illiberal and won't work. Fix the root cause rather than try to impose behaviours and cause further stress on young people share.google/aEx96eMeSZbG...

On reports that Russia could be readmitted to the G7 under peace plans, Lib Dem Calum Miller MP says: "Russia must not be readmitted...Putin is a war criminal who is also hell-bent on destabilising Europe and the rest of the international order. A ceasefire in Ukraine would not change those facts."

Brilliant result! Once again showing that it's the Lib Dems taking on and beating Reform where it matters - at the ballot box.
Bromsgrove South (Worcestershire) Council By-Election Result: 🔶 LDM: 51.9% (+20.3) ➡️ RFM: 33.4% (-1.5) 🌳 CON: 11.3% (-5.8) 🌹 LAB: 3.4% (-4.1) No GRN (-5.5) or Ind (-3.4) as previous. Liberal Democrat GAIN from Reform. Changes w/ 2025.
I have no issue with crowd control on the underground but sometimes it is quite odd. Here at Whitechapel station you have entrances for both directions either side of you, but the sign says to go right for westbound trains and forwards for eastbound
Some absolutely cracking albums nominated for the prize. Big fan of Fontaines, CMAT, Wolf Alice and Sam. Very cool for the local fans too, good to see stuff like this spreading around the UK www.bbc.com/news/article...

Three new members, a bunch of new volunteers and hundreds of doors knocked. I'd say that's a successful day for the Stroud green team! 🔶🔶🔶
This is something we as Liberal Democrats have long called for. Those who wage illegal wars must face the consequences. I'm proud to see this principle become policy.
