Britain can't wait for an Autumn Budget. The government must drop their red lines, get round the table with our European neighbours to kickstart our economy before it's too late.

Closed storefront with a peeling "CLOSING DOWN SALE" banner and taped cardboard reading "sorry we are now closed," overlaid by a torn-paper headline: "nearly 900 businesses shut their doors every day since January — ONS REPORT," branded with a Liberal Democrats logo.

From pensioners left bedbound to life savings being spent on dementia care, our system better resembles the 1920s than the 2020s. Andy Burnham must work with local government and the NHS to finally end the social care crisis.

an older woman in a wheelchair looks away while bold text states More than 275,000 denied social care in England.

This is a stark warning: the climate emergency is here, yet the Government moves at a snail’s pace. It's time for a national strategy: funding cool hubs for vulnerable groups, mandating cooling and ventilation in new homes, supporting drought-affected farmers and heat-proofing NHS facilities.

2026: The driest July since records began — bold headline over a close-up of parched, straw-like grass, with an orange "MET WARNING" band at the top and the Liberal Democrats logo at the bottom.

Ed Davey has cared for his mother, his grandmother, and now his son. As cross-party talks on social care begin, he argues it can be fixed by finally putting the millions of unpaid family carers at the heart of any deal.

The scenes of wildfires across the UK and Europe are deeply worrying. It's clear this problem isn't going away. All political parties in our country need to understand this now.

Gianni Infantino has dragged football's reputation through the mud. Now he's selling off FIFA's rotting husk to the highest bidder. It's time to give Infantino the red card and build a new global footballing body built on accountability and transparency that puts fans first.

A referee’s hand holds up a red card reading “GIVE INFANTINO A RED CARD!” in bold white text, against a blurred football stadium background. A white Liberal Democrats logo appears in the bottom-right corner.

I feel hopeful about the talks today on fixing our broken care system but this is just the beginning. A solution is desperately needed. I will always stand up for family carers through this process.

These statistics reveal an alarming crisis in maternity, with far too many midwives burning out early in their career and in their training. Patients are paying the price, and mothers are left with no alternative but to give birth on understaffed and unsafe wards.

Holidaymakers should not be punished by a bungled, malfunctioning border system that is completely out of their control. Andy Burnham needs to pick up the phone to European leaders – and persuade them to suspend the EES until at least September

Holidaymakers should not be punished by a bungled, malfunctioning border system that is completely out of their control. Andy Burnham needs to pick up the phone to European leaders – and persuade them to suspend the EES until at least September.

People have faced a grueling year, yet the simple pleasure of a summer holiday is being pushed out of reach by runaway costs and systemic travel chaos. By lowering hidden fees, curbing big tech profiteering, and sorting out the chaos at our borders, we can make travel affordable and stress-free.

Even after today's announcement, high street hospitality businesses up and down the country will still be in serious trouble. Andy Burnham should take up our plan to Save our High Streets, with a proper overhaul of business rates, a crackdown on ‘ghost landlords’ and rejuvenating town centres

The Liberal Democrats' plans to boost high streets — VAT cut for hospitality, business rates reform, ghost-landlord crackdown, and an out-of-town levy — shown beside a smiling small-business owner wearing an apron.

Nothing from Burnham on social care, on Europe, or on protecting our precious natural environment. That needs to come very soon – Britain can't wait much longer.

The social care crisis is a catastrophe for families, for the NHS and for local services. Liberal Democrats stand ready to work across party lines to tackle this existential crisis. For carers and for our country. Nothing matters more.

End the social care catastrophe:

1. Put family carers front and centre with guaranteed rights for every carer

2. Universal safety net, including free personal care

3. Protect people from catastrophic costs
