The past is littered with cars that had no mass market and companies that went bankrupt. You or I should probably buy a car that is supported by a major manufacturer with parts guarantee for 10 plus years. If you want an EV buy one of the legacy manufacturers, but Lucid or Rivian are at best a toy.

If you only keep a car for 2-3 years or it's a plaything it's irrelevant.

That's because there are none on the lots. If I do a inventory search for KIA Niro EV there are 2 within 50 miles of me. If I select Sportage there are 571, Seltos 221. Hard to buy cars they don't keep on the lots and don't advertise.

As a Michigander I can tell you Slotkin is out of touch with the core base and is slowly becoming a disappointment. She is part of the over 50 centrist Dem crowd that needs to go. I'm over 50 and embarrassed that current Dem leadership doesn't see the future and has learned no lessons from Trump.

It's one of her canned lines that she uses in her eventual attempt to run for president.
We should have developed better rapid testing and mask,mask, mask. Trump was ill-equipped to do that and when he realized he might lose his inherent nature to sabotage the enemy kicked in. If you are going to re-litigate COVID in every instance Trump not being president at the start would be better.

Every @democrats.org should be running on this for the mid-terms. Trump and the GOP don't want you to get the assistance you deserve and this includes all the voters in blue states, not just the dems.

You mean the ones they never advertised, never kept on the lots because the dealers didn't want to sell them. Just like the small cars and trucks they hated making and selling and relied on tariffs to keep prices high. Drop the tariffs on ones available and we'll see what happens.

Plus the big 3 are run by boomers, and boomers are living in the 70's of musclecars and land yachts. They've been held up by tariffs for decades, and the last 20 by NAFTA. Just like their politics they refuse to give up on the past.
mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social · 2w agoPeople will say the big 3 didn't see it coming but US auto executives knew this was happening 15 years ago and largely acted accordingly, making huge investments in EV tech and lobbying the US govt for subsidies to those investments. Then Trump got reelected and it all got thrown out the window

Pointing this type of shit out and making administrators responsible for it is how you de-fund them. All of this big-brother stuff needs to be turned off.
