Scrap Iron

I used to be funny. I spend far too much time on Fesshole and Anon Opin.

Sad news re Pauline Collins passing. I recall going to see Shirley Valentine towards the end of its run in the cinema, and then suddenly realising as the houselights went back on, being the only man in that audience. Scary. And such a powerful testament to the conviction behind her performance.

So I've just taken our old steam iron to the recycling centre and the man on the gate stopped me. Him: "What have you got there, mate" Me: "It's an old iron" H:"Skip No 2 please" M:"Will it take any old iron?"

All the lovely tributes to Val Kilmer today remind me of what is possibly the worst television interview of all time, during "The Word" in 1990, when his then wife Joanne Whalley was asked by Terry Christian if she'd get some stick in Stockport being married to a man called Val. Excruciating cringe.
