Despite the current occupant of my house ripping them up because she thought they were weeds, and leaving the literally 6 ft tall weeds in place 😖, the poppies LIVE! My Dad was such a cautious person he wouldn’t let my Mom grow them, becuz “DEA.” She gave me the seeds 14 years ago. Naturalize baby!
I was only saying Monday that I was 😞 not to have seen a Common Blue #butterfly yet this year. Then, in the heat & wind, I saw one this PM. Even better, she was laying eggs on the Birds Foot Trefoil! It's what I hoped for when I planted it last year, so pleased! #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates
Well that’s a nice surprise on our walk. (Zoey would disagree, she ran off with a washed up desiccated carcass - deelicious!)
Wandering the lake like a drunken sailor because auto pilot is having a day.
At dinner table on the *boat* deck. Me: [watching suddenly shooting flames] “Grill. HOT-HOT. FIRE-FIRE.” (Only the important words 😂) Cap: [refuses to look at grill] “it’s just stuff burning off.” Me: [raises eyebrows] Cap: [turns head] “oh SHIT! SHIT!”
Helping a friend for a few days. Goose (actual name) is unhappy with my proximity, and these two goobers, Cali and Kat have taken the best seat in the house.
It was the quite large spider landing on my arm that woke me up.
Last night’s anchorage was at Barn Rock, the southern end of the Split Rock preserve. Palisades are in the middle, and here is the actual Split Rock at the north end, with link to interesting history and the trails system. Several campsites only accessible by water and kayak or canoe.
Morning paddle past the Palisades.
