An Ornate Tailed Digger #wasp (Cerceris rybyensis) on the Sea Holly. This is a new observation in the garden for me. Whilst it preys on solitary bees it's a very welcome visitor. #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #gardenwildlife
Rosebush ownership: Year 1: 🤞 Year 2: So delicate, come little ones 🥹 Year 3: Oh I need better gloves Year 4: Body armor + chainsaw + shot of whiskey, after a few hours find skeleton of old mailman
Better view of a Common Blue #butterfly today, the females are so pretty! 😍 #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #gardenwildlife
Don't think I've ever checked an app as often as I have the MetOffice over the last 48hrs. It's shown a good chance of 🌧️ through to the early hours so I've been very excited. But it "should" have started 2hrs ago... I WANT MY RAIN!!!!!!!!!! [I know it gives %age chance, it's not a promise]

A malefurrow #bee playing peekaboo behind the Sea Holly. Look at those antennae! #wildlifefrommywindow #macromonday #invertebrates #gardenwildlife
Like last year I have found one single Toadflax Brocade #moth caterpillar on all the Toadflax in the garden. Perhaps I'm just rubbish at spotting them when they're smaller & more numerous?! Or maybe the wasps & other predators are just very efficient! #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #teammoth
We had an hour of beautiful, very welcome rain on Thursday night. The next morning I found this beautiful Noble False Widow spider (Steatoda nobilis) sheltering under a plant tray when I emptied water onto the garden. @britishspiders.bsky.social #Spiders
Field Scabious continues to flower in the drought, providing a vital lifeline for insects, such as this Volucella inanis hoverfly. Back garden, last week.

I really hate that BBC News & others care more about risk to Sizewell B nuclear power station miles away, than the massive loss of nature actually happening due to the Suffolk wildfire. And then the say ‘luckily no casualties’. 🤷♀️ C’mon, do better. #NatureCrisis

I was only saying Monday that I was 😞 not to have seen a Common Blue #butterfly yet this year. Then, in the heat & wind, I saw one this PM. Even better, she was laying eggs on the Birds Foot Trefoil! It's what I hoped for when I planted it last year, so pleased! #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates

Some friends have commented that I share too many pictures of invertebrates in flagrante, so this one is not going to help my reputation. Two Groundbugs, Nysius sp. I think, one of whom is, not unreasonably, shooing me away. #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #gardenwildlife #bugsky
The Thick Legged #Hoverfly are loving the Sea Holly at the moment. Lots of them flitting around the flower heads. #wildlifefrommywindow #macroMonday #invertebrates #gardenwildlife
Bruchidius imbricornis at Chirk Castle National Trust today. One Goat's Rue plant in a herbaceous border and bingo! Possibly the first for Wales.
Nice photos of wonderful plants, and very thoughtful ALT text! 😍
#wetlandplants for this week's #wildflowerhour 💦 🩷 Ragged Robin & marsh marigold from a damp #GlenFinglas in the Trossachs 🤍 Round sundew & bog cotton from Spinningdale bog at #Ledmore & Migdale In this weather are there any wetland plants thriving near you? #InternationalBogDay2026

I see Creeping Forget-me-not quite a bit in one particular spot on Dartmoor. It does tend to mean getting my feet wet and even in the dry weather this visit was no exception. #WildflowerHour #WetlandPlants
Lesser Spearwort is a species of buttercup which is very common on Dartmoor. As it likes to grow in ponds, it can take patience to find a spot where the ground is dry enough to get a good view, but it's very easy to see from a slightly greater distance. #WildflowerHour #WetlandPlants
The Purple Loosestrife is doing some heavy lifting for the pollinators, like this Carder #Bee, at the moment. Bringing colour to the margins of the pond. #WetlandPlants #Wildflowerhour #wildlifefrommywindow
A Buff Tailed #Bumblebee on the echinacia. At times it was hanging on by it's jaws, as the flower was wanging about in wind as it cleaned itself. #wildlifefrommywindow #gardenwildlife #invertebrates
The Small Copper #butterfly came back, and this time I had the camera in reach! Got a flash of the upperwings too, rather than the coy underwing of last time. #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #gardenwildlife #ukwildlife
It's a #butterfly day! 😍🤩🎉🦋 Delighted to see my 1st brown hairstreak today in Dobshall Wood on my way up Arnside Knott. Sadly didn't see the Scotch Argus, but I'll be happy to go again. So many beautiful #butterflies today up there. @savebutterflies.bsky.social @nationaltrust.org.uk #vitaminN
