Just adding my .02 because I do agree. I think the triple-A industry is a huge part of this. Somewhere along the line, it's become less about true innovation and more about chasing trends and trying to outdo production values. Everyone has to have their big Hollywood-like single player game...

I don't just blame online live service games. Even producing major single player games takes years longer as they meet demands for 4k assets, deep gameplay, and massive worlds.
