The words I thought I brought I left behind. Historian, REEES; Philly sports fan.

Once again I am compelled to remind everyone that criticism is a discipline with its own set of discrete skills and that people who do other kinds of writing are no more likely to be good at their first attempt than a guitar player who decides he’s good at the piano for some reason

None of these people are tricksters, they are only liars. "We have been living in an age of tricksters. Musk, President Trump, Tucker Carlson, Andrew Tate, Nick Fuentes — the grammar of the modern right is tricksy."

Even from across the pond, as we deal with the systematic dismantling of everything that made US higher education the envy of the world, it is so upsetting to see the destruction of UK academia. Of all the stupid things it could copy from the US this is the most evidently self-destructive.

So it's farewell to the History subject area at the University of Hertfordshire, not the first nor the last to go. One of the best departments in the country, just extinguished like a snap of the fingers. Think of the waste. (1/2)

Am told at the blue ash Ohio ICE office today that a bunch of springfield Haitians were told to just “check in” at are now having ankle monitors put on them, which, uh….. they’re not supposed to be fucking doing that

This is what I mean when I talk about the Fantasy of the Optional Pandemic, where the virus was erased from the equation and mitigation measures were always portrayed as an avoidable choice. Headlines about what actually happened are never even acknowledged.

There are working class and vulnerable kids who will never have the life they should have had because of school closures. Let’s address that too, shall we?

Guy who's absolutely livid that Nolan departs so drastically from Joyce and is bewildered no one else is even the least bit upset by this. “There's not a single scene in Dublin!” Its one saving grace is that at least they cast an Irishman as the lead.

Organizing a complicated trip that features flying into JFK and then going to family in the Philly area. Will be using a highly rated shared ride service called SuperTrans, and … I didn't know Bluesky had an airport shuttle service.
