People with disabilities deserve the freedom to determine our own lives and our own futures. Too often and for too long, we’ve been denied that essential right. This Disability Pride month and every other month of the year, we’re fighting for a world where we can exist on our own terms.

Last month, our friends at Native Poppy hosted a fundraiser party at Estancia La Jolla featuring amazing artists and vendors to benefit the ACLU-SDIC. They helped raise $6,000 in support of our work and mission. Here’s to flowers, fun, and fighting against fascism together. 💐

Last Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision in Mullin v. Doe and Trump v. Miot to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 350,000 Syrian and Haitian people. All San Diego and Imperial Valley residents should have the right to live safe and happy lives without fear.

On this historic 4th of July, we’re recommitting to our defense of our most fundamental rights and freedoms. Speaking out about government abuses is foundational to who we are as a country. We’ll keep performing our patriotic duty of speaking truth to power in defense of all of our rights.
