There is more clarity of political vision and positivity for the future of this country in this one page foreword to the Local Power Plan than in everything else Starmer’s government has done since taking power

Since early 2024, community energy projects in England have benefited from a £10 million Government fund. But with the money set to run out in May, there is still no certainty over the fund’s future ...
In the last month our solar sites have produced 7,940.12 KWH of clean energy for schools and community buildings in South London. That’s the equivalent of taking a petrol car off the road for 9,000 miles, planting around 90 trees or more than 100,000 cups of tea brewed!
🚨 Only 16% of students feel adults are doing enough on climate change. That's why we need action! Our programme is having an impact: 95% of teachers say it has influenced their school's climate response & schools saw an average 30% increase in carbon-reducing actions. #EduSky #climateeducation
The famous @adrianhiel.bsky.social / @mliebreich.bsky.social ladder re-used: Interesting way of presenting energy flexibility opportunities focusing on CAPEX, effort, and potential for automation. General line: home heating and EV charging are very well placed to provide flexibility already today.
🌏 From behaviour change to public consent for new renewable energy infrastructure, communities' buy-in is essential to the Government's plan for clean power by 2030. Community energy provides a route through these knotty challenges.
Community energy and low-income households
Community energy projects have existed for many years, but how do they fit in with the Government’s commitment to clean power by 2030 and can community energy really work for low-income households?
