This Week in Videogames has reached its first full year of operation. Thank you to our paid subscribers for helping us sustain an independent, commercial-free, AI-free, and no-nonsense approach to games coverage for everyone. Here's a brief rundown of what we've managed to achieve in Year One:

Few steaming piles are as steaming as the companies that scraped every scrap of content ever without paying or respecting anyone getting big mad because open source alternatives scraped their stuff without paying.

Did I miss Commonwealth Games was happening because I don’t watch much FTA live TV? Or is it the globalised algorithms that mean I definitely still know Olympics and World Cups happen but events like this slip through the cracks?

This is already such a killer year at the box office and it’s only getting better. How do we get people back in cinemas? Let talented people make some stupidly good movies!

If a team makes a game that gets great reviews and doesn't sell, that's a biz failing but the silver lining is you caught lighting in a bottle -- protect that team! It's worth its weight in gold. If you jettison the team but keep the biz people, I don't know what to tell you
