🤓 1st modem an acoustic coupler. Burning Man ‘93+. LVL1 Makerspace ‘11+. NB Sloe Patrol ‘24+ (for sale). Hybrid NB launched Oct/26! Loads more time on the UK canals soon after retirement (2027/2028-ish). Built datacenters (not AI ones).

So far all my ‘firmish’ Saturday plans have shifted to Sunday or my next trip. Not an issue, I’ll just enjoy some time on the stern listening to wildlife & watching moving boats (it is Braunston on a weekend!). Hopefully P&M are free this evening & we can abuse the Admiral Nelson or somesuch. 🍻🍔🥗

I’m going to surprise Christy when she gets to see the boat next year with some little tidbits already on board to feel a bit less ‘empty shell’ of a place. She can choose to keep anything or not but worst case I take them home for me 😆 (she doesn’t use BSky).

Some small art prints of a fox, a lamb, and a snow leopard by Heather of Serendipity in Braunston, arranged with various canal booksAn oak rack with a mismatched collection of mugs including a clearly hand-made earthenware one decorated a very cute sheep, one with a photo of the locks at Braunston, and a China mug covered in tiny narrowboatsA small blue teapot very close to the Boston Whaler Blue color of the boat exterior decorated with traditional “castles and rose” style flowers sits on an oak TV cabinet, framed by a porthole, dark grey radiator and the edge of the TV

Why am I going to this much trouble for a boat 4,000 miles from home? A October morning view from the stern deck like this helps explain it. (Pano so may have to click to view)

WF system worked perfectly first go around. I do want a blind fitting on the inlet so that’s a hardware store thing for me but easy enough & not urgent. We dumped a couple hundred liters out & flushed the terror out of the system then ran a cycle. Pure RO system also good to go. Only notes so far:

WF 1-Touch & RO commissioning in the AM! Off to bed; last night was a 4-hr nap. I’m running out of systems to test! Was too warm for the diesel stove today but maybe tomorrow as soon as the water bits are done. Oven needs to run a cleaning cycle before use; prolly marina to-do unless I re-test gen⚡️

Air gapping your backups has never been more important than now, with AI agents running amok. Seriously, offline, multiple copies, in different physical locations, rotated by time. Backup your stuff, take it to your parents’ place, backup theirs, off to the in-laws’, then take theirs home w/ you. 🤖👎
