If a company trading at $10 has $100 of cash to distribute among its 1000 shareholders, it could: Option A: Find 10 shareholders who would prefer cash and trade them Option B: Give 10 cents to each shareholder without asking Is there really a moral valence here?
They should make a new cut of Super Size Me where every time Morgan's symptoms are due to the alcoholism he was hiding, it plays the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme

My prediction: 2027 will be the year of model commoditization, where open-weight models get close enough to current-gen frontier models to effectively eliminate model price premium. Most tokens will be bought at cost of electricity + a small profit margin that quickly races to the bottom
Would you rather pay $5 for a screwdriver that will definitely last 50,000 uses, or $10 for a screwdriver that has a 50/50 chance of lasting 1,000,000 uses?
In the world where car brainers live, it's common that you have to accelerate your car to 90mph to avoid danger, but there are no situations where an e-bike might need to go 20mph

The worst part of Skubal going to the Dodgers is that I'll have to put up with seeing these clown-ass frames if I want to watch him pitch
Rushing keeps catching pitches 3" off the zone and holding it up for two full seconds trying to steal the strike. It's embarrassing. Have some self-respect, man.
I fixed my friend's Guardian bike yesterday and everything you think might be stupid about the "SureStop" brake gimmick is, in fact, stupid
Or to put it another way, "Generative AI = bad, ML = good" is just incoherent, but what folks mean by it is that the good categories of AI are mechanical replacement, and the bad categories of AI are labor replacement, but with the caveat that it usually misses that a lot of labor is also mechanical
As the guy who designs power cord wraps for small household appliances, let me tell you this: AI will never be able to replicate the human touch of making sure that the power plug always ends up right at the bendy part where it can't latch on to the cord
It is time to stop running the Hal Baleigh ad. Put it back in the rotation if/when his batting average gets above .200
Can Weston Wilson put the ball in play with the bases loaded? No. But does he at least do great fielding work at 3B? Also no.

The owner doesn’t consent to this designation and per state law that is that. Period. The state passed the law because cities like Seattle maliciously used landmarking to bleed owners dry and to delay development and change. This is undemocratic and illegal

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

There's a section on my bike commute that's a steep downhill leading to a stoplight. The speed limit is 25mph and I'm frequently going 28-30mph, and sometimes take the lane to pass a stopped bus. NOTHING makes drivers more aggressive, even though we inevitably end up stopped at the same light.
'The cyclist’s sin is not that they slowed you down. Their sin is that they demonstrated the trip could be made without the two-ton machine, in front of witnesses.' Holy shit they absolutely nailed it. The rest of this is excellent, too. Thanks for the share!
