She/Her Adorable little trans girl Cargo bike dyke AuDHD Long-COVID'd and grumpy about it I dunno I just want to live in a nice society where people are taken care of. 35yo in body, permatoddler at heart. 18+ Zone

Remember: Summers are getting hotter, and heat waves are getting deadlier, especially for people behind bars. What’s clear is that the system is not willing or capable of protecting folks from the effects of climate change. It's time to decarcerate.

Graph showing that hotter summer days are linked to higher state prison deaths. For every 10 degrees above average, deaths rise: all causes +5.2%, suicide +4.8%, heart disease +6.7%; After a three‑day heatwave: all causes +7.4%, suicide +15%, heart disease +7.6%.

When I first went to get my driving licence changed a worker at the DVLA rejected it and forged my handwriting to claim I had a disability that prevents me from driving. Whenever I tell cis people about this they invariably tell me 'well you should have disclosed it'. Even though I don't have it

& when you say "no, it means in the pub trans people can't use either men or women's toilets" there's this kinda blank stare you get the same thing describing republican policy in the simplest terms: people just don't believe you because it sounds nuts

In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

Saw a post saying "I don't want NSFW accounts to talk about voting, just let me jack off" Buddy, NSFW artists and sex workers are being constantly attacked by a government of nonces trying to distract from their own crimes by pinning the blame on porn. They have the right to speak up about this.

After over a year spent engaging community members, analyzing traffic patterns and signal options, testing emergency and public transit operations, and finalizing plans, the City is set to begin implementing a new, safer street design later this month or early August.

In short, Buy America. The US basically only has 2 bus manufacturers, New Flyer and Gillig (one of which is actually Canadian). New Flyer is on shaky financial ground and Gillig gets to pick which agencies they supply. Neither are really enthusiastic about BEBs

Hey Minneapolis. Can someone explain it to me like I’m an idiot: why is MPD allowed to just spend money they don’t have and then say “we’re over budget.” And there’s never any questions that the city has to pay?

In honor of NYC's new shame stickers for those that don't move for street cleaning, I offer my own design for bike lane blockers, free of charge:

Yep. One of the most disgusting things about the US is that at most points in US history, white people could insult other white people, just by suggesting that they care about other people. So white folk deny it. "I'm not an n-word lover, but..." "I'm not PC, but.." "I'm not woke, but..." 🤷🏿‍♂️

Obviously this is a dipshit opinion. But since I sometimes see people on the left rolling their eyes about those signs, I just want you all to know that the other night some lost Black teens came to our house after taking the wrong bus and we were able to get them home. Why’d they pick us? Signs.

A living with disability goal I have been working on is "figure out what's actually most fulfilling for me within my abilities and focus on doing that" instead of trying to do every single thing I want or feel like I need to do.

I think I have figured out Twin Cities Metro Transit's route hierarchy... - Green and Blue are LRT, ~15 min headway - Other color lines are BRT with mostly dedicated ROW, ~15 min - Letter Named lines are "BRT" in mixed traffic with signal priority, ~15 min - Numbered routes are regular ol' busses
