Tried to take a jovial selfie at SDCC next to a life sized Skeletor statue and it came out with me looking so ashen and dead-eyed I deleted it. They call it getting Skelemogged.

I should perhaps talk more about this series, which I’m fortunate to get to edit, and offer up monthly slices of horrendously gorgeous shorts and proudly hoisted skin-flap freak flags.

Feel like every time the words “superstar” or “legendary” are applied to a comic creator it should come with an asterisks that reads: *relatively speaking of course. They didn’t, like, go from making Ghost in the Shell to Appleseed to…just pirate hentai (?) like Masamune fuckin’ Shiro. Still tho!

Stumbled on what must have been the late great Udo Kier’s final role in S4 of Dark Winds: an aging Nazi with dementia, hiding on a Navajo reservation, egging on his assassin granddaughter (Franka Potente?!) who goes nuts and ends up running his ass over on a dirt road. Ham to the max. RIP King.

As a dad I should be genetically predisposed for The Odyssey, a 3h film about a guy on a boat looking for his wife. Alas, the amount of Matt Damon I’m expected to sit through through feels overly optimistic.

Doing a little freelance editing and laying out concise and layered arguments as to how and why the author of the script should make every situation, every relationship, and every narrative outcome worse and more depressing for everyone, characters, creators, and the reader. 👍

Brain flushed up memories of one of the single moments where I felt true tranquility: 20 years ago, living in Japan as a student, taking a one-person elevator down (they gave me a hard hat & whistle in case of earthquakes) to get to the small German language library, six stories underground.

I don’t want to see comics ripping off stuff like Hot Ones or The Criterion Closet. What I want to see is a weekly comics review show hosted by ME and a muppet Alan Moore.

Chinese courts have consistently ruled that digital purchases are assets that belong to you, and can be inherited. And that any EULA the companies make you agree to can't override this. In stark contrast to here where we keep finding out companies can take away your digital goods on a whim.

I feel worthless today, so opening my comp of Vampyrates #1 was heartening. The ads in the backmatter are like "you should read this comic Jodie lettered, or maybe this comic Jodie lettered, or maybe this comic Jodie lettered, or maybe this comic Jodie lettered." My life is honestly blessed.
