It's honestly really fascinating that transphobia as a unique bigotry can only have come about following a long period of secularization. Early religious conceptualizations of gender often gave the room for a "woman's/man's soul" & this is seen in how trans ppl are often more tolerated than gay ppl

I think it's really important that people remember that the nazis never targeted "regular germans". Its just the definition of "regular germans" narrowed over time. A lot of people *in* nazi germany were able to live "normal" lives, basically until the war hit their doorstep.

This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.

I can guarantee you that there is a large portion of americans that think that Bernie sanders was more moderate than hillary clinton, and that donald trump was more moderate than mitt romney.

I'm sorry but to all the people who want to prove a point either way about polls saying americans want politicians to move "left" or "right" those numbers mean nothing because americans simply do not know what they mean.

Among many other things this is a good illustration of the necessity of untethering ideology and "fight" in intra-Democratic battles. The party is very united on fight, very divided on ideology. You unite on fight, let different constituencies/states find their center of gravity on ideology.

News stories like this annoy me primarily because phrases like "no one questioned" just completely ignores all the women in anthropology who have not only "questioned" but also researched and documented answers a great deal for the past like 70 years.

A major part of the argument to voters appears to be "I know you want good things, but no one is as smart or good as you, so those good things don't win elections" And like, I think the appeal is that people get to hold on to the idea that they are better in some way, than most people
