princess peach is racist and intentionally puts herself in harms way in order to give mario pretense to kill thousands of goombas in a colonial effort on behalf of the toad people. In this essay I will...

It's honestly really fascinating that transphobia as a unique bigotry can only have come about following a long period of secularization. Early religious conceptualizations of gender often gave the room for a "woman's/man's soul" & this is seen in how trans ppl are often more tolerated than gay ppl
I think it's really important that people remember that the nazis never targeted "regular germans". Its just the definition of "regular germans" narrowed over time. A lot of people *in* nazi germany were able to live "normal" lives, basically until the war hit their doorstep.
I rly just think that the world would be so much better if Megan Thee Stallion was president
Being super woke™️ sounds simple enough until you realize it requires a lot of work to seek out perspectives that get overlooked and proactively challenge your own thoughts and feelings about stuff. Turns out, deconstructing things like colonialism is a lot more like dark souls than stardew valley
spotify playlists should be able to have a b-sides subsection; like, sometimes I want to have more range, other times I wanna be more of a purist idk
Kinda hard to put into words how bleak it is when human rights orgs just decide that trans people are not woth defending
I feel like one of the reasons transphobia is so sticky right now is that a lot of even "progressive" people feel like trans people are the only minority left that they feel allowed to publicly mock and they just don't want to let go of that.
This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.
I can guarantee you that there is a large portion of americans that think that Bernie sanders was more moderate than hillary clinton, and that donald trump was more moderate than mitt romney.
I'm sorry but to all the people who want to prove a point either way about polls saying americans want politicians to move "left" or "right" those numbers mean nothing because americans simply do not know what they mean.
Among many other things this is a good illustration of the necessity of untethering ideology and "fight" in intra-Democratic battles. The party is very united on fight, very divided on ideology. You unite on fight, let different constituencies/states find their center of gravity on ideology.
News stories like this annoy me primarily because phrases like "no one questioned" just completely ignores all the women in anthropology who have not only "questioned" but also researched and documented answers a great deal for the past like 70 years.
The #BronzeAge #UptonLovellShaman's burial in Wiltshire has long been considered an important religious figure & metalworker. It's been barely questioned someone of such status must be male. But now #aDNA analysis revealed that the body is in fact: a woman. 🏺 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
I know that making sense isn't the business of transphobes but like... If your gender is supposed to be entirely determined by chromosomes, then it is impossible to know the gender of anyone before 1905, and was nearly impossible for most people until the past few decades
A major part of the argument to voters appears to be "I know you want good things, but no one is as smart or good as you, so those good things don't win elections" And like, I think the appeal is that people get to hold on to the idea that they are better in some way, than most people
I love when people argue Democrats need to run to the center by saying shit like, "We need to be careful because otherwise Republicans will paint Democrats as crime-loving commies who want to turn every kid trans!" As if Republicans are not already doing exactly that.
Seeing discourse on tiktok about cishet women being weird towards bisexual men, and I fear many may be losing the plot. The popular sentiment seems to be "cishet women can't oppress bi men, because they are men" and like... I feel like many are misunderstanding feminism here
I know it is so minor in the grand scheme of things but "president blasts phantom of the opera the day after a major scandal" would have been WILD news back in like, the bush era
"Today were gonna study if guns kill people, because there's never before been a randomized controlled trial and this is a major public health issue"
It is weird to me that a lot of even very smart people seem to think that a randomized controlled trial is the only way to prove causation when that is simply not true. It feels like ppl learned a concept without really grasping the epistemic philosophy behind it
When will Spotify ever learn that all anyone wants is simply a list of every song by an artist and not individual albums or a "best of" that consists of nothing but B-sides that Spotify wants to promote
You ever think about how we collectively invented a myth about ppl thinking the world was flat just to protect the reputation of a man (columbus) who was wildly wrong, & mostly hated at the time, to the point where there's a good chance they gave him a boat bc they kinda hoped he wouldn't come back?
one thing I am always amazed by, is that transphobes have somehow managed to convince so many people that teenagers are too young for puberty & that hormones are some sort of dangerous complicated mystery, when, again, its literally just puberty were talking about here.
On to the next part. Yeah, this is fine. The government shouldn't make medical decisions. Healthcare decisions should be left up to patients, in consultation with their parents (for minors) and doctors. /
So I see a lot of people reacting to this with "its bad but technically its not..." And I think it's important to understand that eugenics is primarily an ideology, not a specific set of policies or practices (despite being associated with some particular policies and practices)
Genetic testing people to see if they are allowed to play a sport is on its face eugenics
Genetic testing people to see if they are allowed to play a sport is on its face eugenics
If you think about it, an adaptation of the Odyssey not being historically accurate, is actually historically accurate to the text, which itself was not historically accurate.
If trans women really were "biologically male" then doctors wouldn't be absolutely mystified any time one walks into their office
Upton Sinclair would be so devastated to know that his work is still super relevant tbh
If you think about it, AI is basically the "sawdust in parmesean cheese" for tech & media companies. Except instead of just cheap filler, they think they can wholesale replace everything and hope we won't notice
FWIW, JB Pritzker recently signed legislation to end subminimum wage labor for people with disabilities, a major priority for disability rights activists.
July marks Disability Pride Month, Illinois. Our state will continue building on the progress that those with disabilities fought for — not retreat from it under this federal administration.
I rly need other trans women to stop accepting the lie that cis lesbians are in any sense uniquely transphobic. Literally cis lesbians support trans people more than other trans people do. Don't let your (very understandable) fears get in the way of having rly cool friends
My colleagues @fn0rd.bsky.social and @jessiscah23.bsky.social wrapped these projects while I've been in my Perpetual Crashout era Any of you who like my -other- posting, please go boost this one, and check out my starter pack for the dev team. A lot of extremely talented people deserve it!! 💜☀️👁️🌴
