For #SundayFishSketch this week, I was inspired by a Mary Oliver poem and painted a spiny dogfish (Squalus acanthias). These friends have some of the longest gestation periods of any animals, which last 18-24 months.

More pottery for #SundayFishSketch! Here are some tuna on a garlic grater plate. I’ve been trying to combine watercolor techniques and underglaze!
My #SundayFishSketch has been in the works for the last several weeks (sorry for being so absent) but it’s a yellow perch (Perca flavescens) on a matcha bowl I threw on the wheel!
My #SundayFishSketch this week is a yellow boxfish, one of my favorite to paint because of their fun shape! Always good to practice depth with watercolors!
My friends had a housewarming party and had us paint on their wall as part of it! So my #SundayFishSketch this week is a brook trout blessing the walls of Kate and Trey’s new home ❤️
Being from Minneapolis, these past few weeks have been especially heavy. I’ve been painting fish again to calm my nerves. Here is a tangerine darter in breeding colors for my first #SundayFishSketch in a while.
An arctic char for the #SciArtSeptember Borealis theme and a late #SundayFishSketch. I tried an experiment where I painted with only two colors.
So, not only is my kid's healthcare illegal for doctors to provide him in the state we live in, he can no longer be treated out of state and risks losing access to the evidence backed peer reviewed medication that has changed his life for the better because we are ruled by monsters and cowards
Quick #SundayFishSketch of a zebra shark at the airport. These endangered friends are nocturnal and hunt and feed mostly on crustaceans, mollusks, and small boney fishes

A WIP of the kelp forest livestream from the Monterey Bay Aquarium for #SundayFishSketch and the start of #sharkweek, with a leopard shark!
Happiness challenge day 736: a bumblebee (presumably?) escaping the heat by sleeping under a purple cone flower
Happy #SundayFishSketch! I finally finished my red shiner in honor of pride! Red shiners are a common baitfish which has led to them becoming invasive in areas where bait buckets have been dumped. A reminder to not dump your baitfish into the water when you are fishing!
Happy Pride month! For #SundayFishSketch, here is my work in progress of a red shiner, whose iridescence felt very on theme!
I finally finished my painting of my golden tilefish (Lopholatilus chamaeleonticeps), for #SundayFishSketch! These fish have a unique burrowing behavior and their age of sexual maturity has been significantly impacted by overfishing.
I forgot to post my #SundayFishSketch for mothers day! It is a Nile tilapia which is a mouth brooding mother!
#SundayFishSketch: Line art for my eventual watercolor of a native Mexico fish, the golden tilefish (Lopholatilus chamaeleonticeps)
My #SundayFishSketch is a bit late once again but here is an orange spotted sunfish for the fishy theme of what I’d like to catch this year
I’m ashamed to be so late after requesting this theme! My postage stamp #SundayFishSketch is in honor of archerfish and their perfect aim!
Quick #SundayFishSketch of a boomerang triggerfish. Trying to work on quick pen sketches to focus on practice over perfection
@lampichthys.bsky.social A while ago, there was a “design your own fishy stamp” theme for #SundayFishSketch. What are your thoughts on bringing that one back?
Finished my blue spotted ribbontail ray in time for #SundayFishSketch this week! These friends hide during the day and form groups at night to feed in shallow areas during rising tides. #SciArt
Ending the week with a little motivation from our office mural. 💙 We hope you all have a great weekend. 🦈
Apparently deadlines elude me, so here are the beginnings of a Blue spotted ribbontail ray for #SundayFishSketch
