Sometimes a story perfectly reifies a specific feeling I have about moving through life. Fiction at its best, an art that gives form to something nebulous inside you and makes it feel solid. "Please Turn on Your Magic Beam" by Orrin Grey was that for me. Sad, beautiful, deeply profound horror.

I have a new nonfic article out today: Flatland, the 19th century story about a 2D world narrated by a square, has interesting worldbuilding but turns many people off with its demeaning comments about women. But are these comments genuine or satirical? I dig into the author's life to find out.
