My attitude towards AI is this quote from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe: “…take my advice, when you meet anything that is going to be Human and isn’t yet, or used to be Human once and isn’t now, or ought to be Human and isn’t, you keep your eyes on it and feel for your hatchet.” —C.S. Lewis

My quest to become a librarian is progressing… to date I’ve completed the first half of the year one courses for the LIT program at SAIT through Open Studies, and I JUST finished on-boarding to be a support substitute Learning Commons Facilitator (School Librarian!) and Receptionist with RVS. 🎉

Soup tastes better when you are eating it out of your most beloved bowl. Coffee or tea taste better when you are drinking them from your most cherished mug. A book is more captivating when you’re reading it in your preferred chair. Denying these facts is akin to denying science itself.

Was NOT expecting Kpop Demon Hunters to be fantastic representation of therapy parts work AND make me cry, but here we are. Right up there with Inside Out 1 & 2, and Turning Red for FANTASTIC movies about emotional health and understanding. AND SO FUN.

Recovery is not about handling sh*t perfectly. You won't, I won't. It's about being willing & able to course correct, again & again. Don't get me wrong, we'll absolutely get better at handling stuff as we get further into recovery-- but the core of recovery is bouncing back.

It's so important to support your local theatre, café, bookstore, bakery, and library. They are little corners of magic in a world full of chaos. Without them, a town loses a piece of its soul. Keeping them around not only saves them, but in many ways, also saves us.

As far as G7 in Kananaskis (in my backyard basically) goes, I hope President Zelenskyy gets to enjoy soaking in the Nordic Spa and feel some measure of well earned rest, and small woodland creatures flock to him. I also hope they drain the pool after Trump uses it and may he meet an angry grizzly.

This past year has been the worst of my entire life but it’s also been one where I’ve found more of God and more of myself. Separation after 20 years of marriage and two kids on its own is bad enough, in the midst of three to four other major life challenges?

As a Christian, Albertan, a parent, and a librarian in training—who reads like a fish—the past few months have been… A LOT. If I discern my child isn’t ready for a certain book, or needs discussion around the content, that is my responsibility. It’s NOT my call to remove that autonomy from others.

International journalists can’t enter Gaza. But healthcare workers can. That makes their testimony vital. They can cut through to the reality of the atrocities Israel is committing in Gaza. In today’s video, you’ll hear their firsthand accounts of witnessing a genocide:

Oh THIS was why my horse kicked me in the head and KILLED ME when I had a sword fight next to his head in BreathOTWild 🫣 (my kids still heap shame on my head for that, which is rich since I’m why they know who Link even IS!) The Secret Diary of a Video Game Horse www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/the...

Tomorrow, I start my 2nd semester of working on a Library Info Tech diploma a few courses at a time (for now), super excited. Nailed the first two with 4.0s, proving I’m still a ridiculous nerd who loves school incl. handwriting my notes and writing essays, who also needs to discuss why in therapy.

Easter Sun is grappling to lean into joy for me when my year has felt mostly like “all lenten and never Easter”, to bastardize Lewis. Reminding myself the risen Jesus finished the work, and it was enough, to start the wave that will see all things slowly reconciled, redeemed, restored, renewed.
