During this discovery, an estimated one hundred female octopuses were found brooding their eggs together in low temperature hydrothermal vents, a phenomenon that scientists have never seen before. We are here to better understand the hydrogeology, microbiology, ecology, and geochemistry of this region that may facilitate this fascinating behavior.
