Had some plums that were a bit... Overripe so I made a plum galette. Putting it unbaked in the freezer & now I have a dessert whenever I need one.

Late birthday presents to myself. The French Patisserie book is basically a class on basic French Patisserie and Viennoiserie with amazing pictures & tutorials. And Sift has great descriptions on how baking... Works (plus a canele recipe that looks amazing!).

French Patisserie by Ferrandi, Paris; Sift by Nicola Lamb, and three cooking weights.

This is a great article. When I worked in Huntingtons disease as a SWer, I dealt with this a lot, made more difficult by people not understanding that they could not safely drive. A couple of added thoughts: 1) There is a giant caregiver burden here (who drives people to appts)

The demographic reality is inescapable: We are going to have millions more older drivers with diminishing capabilities, in cars that are too big and too dangerous for everyone around them, with few satisfactory alternatives to driving. It will not end well.

Took some time this morning for a family hike at the nature reserve near our house. How did I end up with outdoorsy kids? My oldest said he wants to go fishing which... Why? How? Anyway we touched grass and it was fun.

For our rainy day activity my son and I made cakepops with... Varying levels of success. Some of the cakepops did not hold together. But Sy had a fun time and was asking when we can make them again so win!

I fucked up my challah today and had to restart it. So just a reminder that not every baked good comes out perfect, and you need to restart, even if it is something you have made a million times!

Today I had birthday cake! I made a chocolate cake with a whipped caramel filling and covered with a whipped chocolate ganache. Will try this again when I don't have a one year old who wants to help but it was really yummy. I added some caramel shards on top.

Nate gave me an afternoon to myself and then took me out for an early birthday dinner (my birthday is going to be observed on Weds this year). So what did I do with my time off? Ate and bought books. Then Nate & I went to an amazing pastry shop & had BBQ. Yes that mango & cloud are mousse cakes!

2 books I bought: dungeon crawler carl by Matt Dinniman & Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.2 pastries: a mango with a mango and a passion fruit mousse in it and a cloud cake with some mousse in it. I forgot what it was.I had ice cream at JP Licks bc of course I did. My father did not raise a kid who would say no to ice cream. Meat on sticks, pan fries noodles, bbq chives, and a smashed cucumber salad.

This is amazing resource of public administration & public policy professors and scholars. I will be using this in my LGBTQ politics class and this might be good for research on policy changes over time.

I just created www.lgbtqlegislation.com which builds on the work of the LegiAlerts team to provide an interactive data dashboard to look at 20+ years of anti-LGBTQ legislation and especially anti-trans legislation. It also includes an overview of pro-LGBTQ legislation. Check it out!
