My first finish of 2026 is deeply silly but I’m still happy with the likeness I was able to achieve of this Elrond and Frodo Lord of The Rings meme! I added a ribbon border to fit the matte board I chose (and somehow wildly missized), and like how the brass frame sets off the piece!

Embroidery of the frame from LOTR where Elrond is being intense and Frodo is dying and they’re both faded and weird looking. My #ArtVArtist2025 featuring a few faves from this year! All bead embroidery: Lady Gaga, Irving B watermelon head, The Reluctant Bride, and the “This is fine” dog. Embroidery and mixed media: Chappell Roan, Kim Kitsuragi, Fun Feast, Oh, Mary! and the Severance MDR team.

9 square picture format with a white woman with brown hair in the center square on a couch holding a large quilting hoop of The Reluctant Bride painting done as bead embroidery.

The surrounding pictures are embroideries and bead embroideries featuring Lady Gaga from the Abracadabra video, Irving B’s watermelon head from Severance, Chappell Roan in a Statue of Liberty inspired stage look, the “this is fine” dog but burnt and bleeding, the MDR team on the ORTBO from Severance, Cole Escola’s Oh, Mary! Playbill, a Fun Feast TV dinner, and Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 24 I haven’t even completely finished yet but I consider my bead embroidery masterpiece: a beaded version of Auguste Toulmouche’s The Reluctant Bride. I beaded this in 4 sections and transferred and joined them on the backing fabric which is in a stained 16” quilting hoop.

Beaded and needle-felted section from Auguste Toulmouche’s The Reluctant Bride showing the bride and two attendants. The bride is giving a fierce but resigned look to the viewer while her attendants console her. Detail of the embroidery showing the attendant on the bride’s left (viewer’s right) glancing up at the bride whose face is out of focus. You can see individual beads as well as the needle-felted fur trim on the gowns.

This was a delightful trip through my own art archive and a great way to find other creative folks on here! Thanks for hosting and brightening up the season, @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca!

That's it for me for #artAdventCalendar 2025. Thanks to all 630 of you who participated. We finish with over 8500 images with 97% AltText usage. That's remarkable. Know that you made a difference to someone in the last 24 days. Sam approves.
